I doubt this is the first and it sure as Hell isn't the last.
Can't say I'm surprised, but from the title I thought it would be someone in a position of power, not an anonymous caller.
And no one is surprised.
That was a really good save by the host, I just want to point out. Like, couldn't have handled it any better than that, wow.

Too often it's a matter of "Oh, woah, uhh, ok, uhh, alright moving on, uhh."
The Republican party ladies and gentlemen. Give them a big round of applause.
It's amazing how ignorant some people still are these days.
A CSPAN caller was obnoxious on air. How is this news?
The Republican party ladies and gentlemen. Give them a big round of applause.
Furthermore, the people that control most of the government at the moment and are basically the people keeping anything from happening.
I'm conservative and don't think or act this way. In fact very few people actually do still think/act this way. Don't try to sum up an entire section of the country based on a few idiot's vocal stupidity.
Sorry but it's more than just a few vocal idiots. I live in a mostly republican state and I can tell you for a fact that I have seen more than a "few" racist vocal idiots. Working retail I was exposed to maybe at least 20 a day that were very vocal about their hated for "that n- Obama" I see many bumper stickers with Obama as a monkey, or something with a banana, or my personal favourite it just straight up said, "Deport Obongo the socialist n- president." It may be a vocal minority in some parts of the country, but it sure as hell isn't around here. Sorry if I'm a little crass about it.
The Republican party ladies and gentlemen. Give them a big round of applause.
You are a gigantic idiot.

Newscaster handled that very well and professionally.
Sounded more like a prank call to me, CSPAN has always been a target of prank calls.
Newscaster handled that very well and professionally.
The guy most likely dealt with dozens of these kind of calls before.
I don't think foreigners and urban Americans really understand the amount of racism that is still around in rural American areas. This guy is not part of a small but vocal minority, he's part of a large and vocal minority. I'd say between 25-30% of rural, right-wing Americans share this sentiment in one form or another. Examples of how racist some people in small town America can be: There was a sign on a barbershop in my hometown that read: NO TOWELHEADS. On the front door, on a busy street, and it stayed up for weeks. My high school football team was all white, and when we played a mostly black team, they had line calls like "porchmonkey" and other racist terms. Admittedly, that's high school, but the parents didn't care, and they are adults. A WWII vet at my church was shouting after Obama got into office, at church mind you, about how crazy it was that the American people elected a "stupid nigger" into office. The pastor shushed him, but had a small smile on his face at the same time. I can go on for days, but between personal anecdote and stories like this, I'd say that racism is still strong and alive in America, and not as small of an an issue as people would tend to believe.
The Republican party ladies and gentlemen. Give them a big round of applause.
Maybe I should find anything you love and like, find a idiot that likes it too, and say "Look! what you like is basically this! you feel stupid now for liking it!"
Maybe I should find anything you love and like, find a idiot that likes it too, and say "Look! what you like is basically this! you feel stupid now for liking it!"
Knock your self out champ. I have just as much of a right to post my unpopular opinion as you do. Just as we each have the right to tell each other how stupid the other one is. Doesn't bother me any.
That whole call seems like it's either a gag or a prank. First off, it's a "Republican" from San Diego California. Not saying that this is impossible, but I find that hard to believe. Secondly, the general way he goes about this seems VERY off. He says he's a republican, but keeps using terminology and structures his sentences in a way that excludes him from the very group he says he's a part of. He keeps using exclusive phrases like "the republicans" and "they" instead of inclusive phrases like "we". When he says "and I'm a republican", it sounds rushed and out of place with the rest of what he's saying. To me, the whole thing sounds very fishy. I don't know which party he affiliates with, but it doesn't seem to me like he's a republican....
The Republican party ladies and gentlemen. Give them a big round of applause.
As a moderate, please stop doing this people. there are a huge number of fucked up liberals / libertarians out there, including racist ones
don't stations delay the call? so if anything bad is said, they have time to cut it off before it airs
Could someone transcribe what the newscaster said in response? Can't pull up YouTube right now.
Could someone transcribe what the newscaster said in response? Can't pull up YouTube right now.
"Okay, I'm going to stop you there. We're not going to use that kind of language, as we move on to Beverly in Kerry, North Carolina, you can certainly make your point, but you cross the line when you use language like that. So to our viewers and listeners I want to apologize. Beverly, go ahead."
don't stations delay the call? so if anything bad is said, they have time to cut it off before it airs
Judging by the amount of C-SPAN prank compilation videos, not particularly.
Okay look, I hate both parties and call me crazy but this is an obvious as fuck prank call. And I legitimately don't know anyone who refers to the party they feel represented by as "The Democrats" or "The Republicans" in such an awkward way. In fact he even clarifies "and I'm a Republican" as to really, really make sure people know he's definitely a super serious Republican before he throws out the racial slurs. I'm not even going to try to deny some Republicans are racist, but are you all seriously utilizing this of all things as proof to support your claim? An anonymous and dicey call to CSPAN, a line anyone can call? Jesus.

It bothers me how the media will jump on someone calling Obama a N-word but if it's that conservative Dr. Carson oh no go right ahead.

Mad props to that host for handling it so professionally.
