The release, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail (April 10th), will present the film in 3D for the first time ever. Written, directed and produced by Cameron, “TITANIC” is the second highest grossing movie of all time. It is one of only three films to have received a record 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director; and launched the careers of stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Called “A spectacular demonstration of what modern technology can contribute to dramatic storytelling” by Variety upon its release in 1997, the long in the works 3D conversion is being overseen by Cameron and his Lightstorm producing partner Jon Landau who produced the hit movie. Said Cameron, "There's a whole generation that's never seen ‘TITANIC’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘TITANIC’ as you've never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike." “This new presentation of Paramount’s top-grossing film is particularly special because 2012 is the 100th anniversary of our studio. Paramount has had the pleasure of introducing audiences to some of the all-time classics of cinema during that century of moviemaking and we cannot think of a better way to mark the occasion than with this re-release of ‘TITANIC’,” said Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures. Commented Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairmen and CEOs, Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman: “Our 30-plus year relationship with Jim Cameron and Lightstorm has been enormously rewarding, from ‘Aliens’ to ‘Avatar’, and the global phenomenon of ‘TITANIC’ remains one of the greatest sources of pride in our history. We are pleased to allow a new generation of audiences to experience the film in its brilliant digital restoration in 3D.”
http://www.deadline.com/2011/05/3d-restored-titanic-released-worldwide-april-6-2012/
Why? Stop making money off of tragic events in history, it's just wrong now.

I think this is the film I least want to see in 3D
I think this is the film I least want to see in 3D
Look on the bright side, at least you will get to see the old ladies' crumpled feet climbing the railing bars of a ship in TFHVREEEEEEE DEEEEEEE
Look at that iceberg, it's coming straight at us!

He acts like this wasn't even a real event, as if it was just some story that took place in some fairytale. These events did happen and it's just wrong to keep bringing up the past about this for money. I wouldn't want people making money off of an event that killed so many people.

Remebering such events helps stop them from happening again in the future.
I'll go see it. I'm gay for DiCaprio and Winslet. Heres to hoping they re-release Revolutionary Road
That falling guy who hits the propeller better be in 3D.
I was expecting some sort of game that allowed you to walk through the Titanic.
Does James Cameron still need money? Was Avatar and it's re-release not enough?
Yup, one can never have enough of the green stuff.
Go for it. Water, death, destruction, mayhem, etc. Should be interesting to see. Cameron has done a lot of work and research on the Titanic in recent years (financing such projects with all the money he's grossed off the film). He's gone deeper into the ship than anyone previously has before. Re-release of that shitty Titanic movie? I think that is one of the signs of the Apocalypse. Perhaps the Mayans were right and the world is going to end in 2012!
as long as i get to see roses tits in 3D i think ill be ok with this.
3D restored movies look pretty bad anyway.
as long as i get to see roses tits in 3D i think ill be ok with this.
They will add special effects so that one of them jumps out of the screen and hits you in the face.
What the fuck is there to make 3D in this movie?

On the bright side it's not animated so we don't have to sit through another one of those travesties.

what's next? The 9/11 documentary in 3D?
what's next? The 9/11 documentary in 3D?
The guy jumping and pulling off his jacket would be amazing if it was in 3d.
Why? Stop making money off of tragic events in history, it's just wrong now.
But it brings in oh so many Oscars.
Tits.
I do love them 3D titties. :smug:
Now I can watch shit in an extra dimension.
To be honest, I think this would look pretty spectacular in 3D on an IMAX screen: Just my two cents.
I thought the thread was about a 3d environment set on the Titanic. I was excited to have the experience of dying on sinking boat. Without... you know... actually dying.
