After I loged-in to my user account today, all I could see was my cursor and a black desktop with no icons and no task-bar. I tried to open up task manager but my pc stopped responding after a while and I got a message saying "Windows not responding" and all I could do was press "end task" which did nothing. I've tried booting in safe mode and only that seemed to work. I figured reinstalling windows would solve the problem. So after I reinstalled everything was alright, but after I had installed: java, eset nod, nvidia video drivers, realtek audio drivers and restarted my pc, it happened again.
I googled for the problem and all I could find is that this has something to do with UAC not allowing to finish driver installations.
Reinstalled windows again and made two user accounts, going to attempt installing the drivers with UAC disabled.
Disabling UAC did the trick, everything seems running fine at the moment.
Wait. Wait.
Maybe it updated yesterday? And you alaready fixed it.
UAC is pretty pointless anyway.
I happened again, just this time I can see my desktop, but after few minutes windows crashes and I get the same 'Windows not responding" message.
It seems that this: http://www.ghacks.net/2009/12/01/windows-7-black-screen-of-death-fix/ has fixed the problem, for now...
