A new Indian clothing store called Hitler has hurt the feelings of Jews around the world, a senior Israeli diplomat has told the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-19433343 Israel's consul-general in Mumbai, Orna Sagiv, said she was "really shocked" by the "insensitive" name. The store opened in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat 10 days ago. Its owner says he did not know who Adolf Hitler was and the store is named after a business partner's grandfather who was called Hitler for being strict. 'Ignorant, insensitive' Mrs Sagiv said she would "raise the issue" with the state government next week during a pre-arranged visit to Gujarat. "I don't think they have named the store out of malice, I think it's just ignorance and insensitivity on their part," she said. The shop's owner Rajesh Shah, who sells men's clothing, said he was surprised he had upset people. "I didn't know how much the name would disturb people," he told the AFP news agency. "It was only when the store opened I learnt that Hitler had killed six million people." Mr Shah said he would change the store's name if he was compensated for re-branding costs. He said he had spent 150,000 rupees (about $2,700; £1,700) on the logo, hoarding and business cards. The store has Hitler written in large letters over the front and a Nazi swastika symbol makes up the dot on the letter "i". Correspondents say the German dictator who took the world to war in the middle of last century is admired by a small but growing number of Indians. Books on his life and Nazi memorabilia have found a steady market in some sections of Indian society where Hitler is admired, mostly by young people.
fuck late appearently

Israel can go fuck off, its been 73 years and they weren't even a country at the time.
Oh no, where ever shall India get their supply of Kosher pickles and brats?!
I love how a change of title for the thread changes everyone's opinion. "Indian business called Hitler" - In article: Jews are mad. - Comments: lol India you so silly "Jews mad at Indian business called Hitler" - same damn article - Comments: FUCK OFF ISRAEL YOU PIECE OF SHIT! :v:
People are actually defending this, what the fuck guys
People are actually defending this, what the fuck guys
They're not so much defending the store as they are blindly attacking Israel at any moment it's mentioned. You've been here since April, you should know that by now.
It's not so much that it was so long ago, it's what the name represents. There's a reason no one is named Hitler anymore. It's pretty much soured the name forever for that. Also remember, it wasn't just jews that died during the holocaust. The fact that it's only Israel saying something is more surprising than it being only Israel.
If he didn't know who Hitler was, how does he explain the swastika?
If he didn't know who Hitler was, how does he explain the swastika?
We had a WHOLE thread discussion about that in the other article.

yea like no one noticed the swastika
Speaking from experience?
Yes sir, doesn't make me automatically wrong if the majority dislikes me, and it doesn't mean I care, if I cared I wouldn't do what I do and I wouldn't share my opinions on things that I know people will be butthurt about, now would I?

How is it not so to think that naming a store Hitler and brandishing swastikas on it is inappropriate? However, I guess if it ends up with Israel disapproving of anything, people on FP will jump on the retarded bandwagon and go "fuck off israel!" and "its completely fine" just because it's Israel, even though the reason (even for once) is justified.

When it was first posted, it was about Jews complaining. But since it wasn't in the title, no one cared.
Maybe people think Jews complaining is legitimate, but Israel isn't. I kinda agree with them. Someone makes/does something offensive to Muslims, Muslims get offended, okay lighten up but okay. Iran starts spouting off wah wah death to western culture ect ect, no one really cares.
Well, to be fair alot of people would fucking explode if there was a Saddam Hussein clothing store or something like that.

I'd still put it as Jews getting offended rather than Israel.
Well, to be fair alot of people would fucking explode if there was a Saddam Hussein clothing store or something like that.
I'd love to get a Saddam outline on a red t-shirt and tell people it's Che when he got old.
Most of the people who lived through the holocaust aren't even alive to remember it. Its time to stop getting "offended" at simple things like this.
"Everybody from the greatest genocide in human history isn't alive anymore, therefore it's funny now."
Both are stupid, the owner for not knowing who the fuck is Hitler and what he did, jews for being offended years after the holocaust. The Gestapo sent thousands of French people including my grandpa in a concentration camp and we joke about it, don't have any tabou about it and don't feel the need to forget this horrible period in our history. I mean, sure, they suffered more than everyone else during WWII, that's a given. But it's time to let it go and remember it in a way we won't let this happen again, not in a stupid "don't ask, don't tell or I'll be offended" way.
"Everybody from the greatest genocide in human history isn't alive anymore, therefore it's funny now."
Yes, we're laughing at the death of a shitload of people, it's not the store or anything.
Because "lol india you so silly" equals to "I am so deeply offended that some random guy put up a store named 'Hitler', pls burn it down." Nobody changed their opinions, you're not the ~~last rational mind amongst sheep~~
Hamas 2012 fuck israel!!!
Retarded mass mentality of Facepunch which will never change.
Shame...
Israel mad
nothing new to see
they also have a TV show where the main character is called Hitler http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_Didi and it's a woman.
The reason why there is a swastika there is since the swastika in India(or for whole of Asia) is a symbol for luck, a pretty common one too.
