A suicide bomber killed 14 children in Iraq yesterday when he drove a truck packed with explosives into the playground of a primary school. The attack took place at around 9.30am in the village of Qabak, around 260 miles north-west of Baghdad. An estimated 90 people were injured, the majority of whom were children, and the school’s male head teacher was killed in the blast. An official in the town, who did not want to be named, said: ‘The fingerprints of al-Qaeda are clear on both attacks" (referring to another recent bombing in Iraq)

"Yeah! This'll show those western pigs!"
:(

"Yeah! That'll make them think twice before educating their support for us out of them"

The conflict there has nothing to do with "western pigs". More like Shia pigs. Assuming this came from Al Qaeda and friends.
Let's kill children that want to benefit from education because we don't like when people are educated.

It's not as simple as middle east vs. USA. It's middle east versus everyone else in the middle east (as well as versus USA). Shia-sunni, etc.
I wonder which are the birth/death rates of these countries and if someday they'll just disappear because everyone will be dead.

Indeed. They're terrorists mostly to themselves, not anyone else. Only reason they care about us in the slightest is because we've been trying to interfere with their own agenda.

I always assumed it was more like this:
"We are oppressors who wish to control the populace. We've looked back on history and saw that being educated makes a populace more likely to overthrow a tyrant. So, let's just kill all the educated people before they can overthrow us!"
Occam's razor and all that.
Meh Saddam and his sons had everything in Iraq under control now they're gone, Shia and Sunni started to blow each other and anyone nearby.
Sure Saddam was a bad man but he had both groups in check.
I will never understand this their true motives for these horrid actions.

A irrational self deciding thought in their brain, being conformed by their religion.
Usually, I'd say "Well.. Extremists" but god damn, they do not make the Islamic religion look that fun.
If it wasn't for FP I probably wouldn't of heard about this. Sad fact.

contrary to popular belief the primary target of terror organizations is the local governments, not america

the daily mail is such a niche source
"Yeah! This'll show those western pigs!"
The primary idea is to convince the locals that the destruction will not stop until all foreigners have left.
Essentially they're trying the extremely violent way to make them turn against us.

Okay
"Yeah! This will show the people that were the good guys! "
My god how is it even possible to live in that country? Bombings with massive death tolls are reported almost daily.
it is a low intensity civil war. Depends on the neighbourhood and city. Think of it kind of like Northern Ireland during its worst time. Some cities are mostly okay then some are crazy.

Did you skip on school because you were afraid of being bombed?
"Hey kids, I'll show you how to be a suicide bomber but I can only show you once"

Sometimes you wonder if he was the lesser evil. Sure his regime was extremely awful, but at least there wasn't daily bombings and such like this. Then again, I don't remember pre-Occupation Iraq all that well; but it looks like post occupation isn't doing so hot.

Well I mean there was that whole chemical weapons thing, and the genocide, and all
Iraq now is the result of a horribly bungled post-invasion rebuilding effort that left a corrupt and ineffective government to deal with a growing insurgent threat

Well yeah, that's the the thing. How much of what Saddam did was hidden from public eye? I suppose my views are this; if you intend to invade a nation then don't leave it in a stay of utter disrepair. Though; I am glad we're finally done and out of Iraq, it's just awful knowing our presence hasn't in reality done all that much.
We might have curbed some of Al Qaeda's influence, but in the end they'll still pop up and strengthen once the crosshairs of our military aren't focused on them. All we've really done is given them a reason to be more vengeful and we have even given them the perfect arena to rebuild. A country in complete disarray that resembles more of a post-apocalyptic wasteland than the ideal western puppet we intended.
Interesting how US media is pretty quiet on the deteriorating situation in Iraq. With the US gone, the same old sectarian conflict has ramped up again, just like it did right after Saddam was put out of power. I don't see it ending any time soon unless Iraq gets broken up into separate ethnic nations.

yes
also i was on my phone.
At least under Saddam I wouldn't have to worry about being a casualty of an air-raid or of a terrorist attack for doing absolutely nothing other than living my day. He's a cunt, but if stability and peace is what the US were seeking in Iraq, they did it completely wrong.

On the other hand if you were an ethnic minority you could be scapegoated and gassed
Like it's a lesser of two evils, but only by the slimmest margins
