But the lesson he should be getting out of this is that "you shouldn't beat and abuse people", not "don't hit girls"

That should not be possible. No one who committed a crime and gets convicted should look happy with their conviction.

it's just writing shit on paper for a few hours. how is this just punishment for somebody decking somebody else? it might be effective if the guy was in preschool or something, but he's a grown man that needs to face real consequences.
I was very, very, very confused at first. Weird grammar led me to believe the guy punched her girlfriend so she would write "boys do not hit girls" 5000 times. And then he was sentenced for it. Nothing wrong with that lol.
Edit: In general, one shouldn't punch anyone, but there are a few guys out there that can only learn from getting a beating, tho it's not up to anyone to decide who that is. But really... I know some people who would only learn from a good beating. Just make sure they understand why first. Or else it's pointless.
I don't beat ppl tho, but who ever does, try to keep it to those who really needs it.
After writing it 5000 times i don't think he will want to do it again. He might get 10,000 next time.

Positive enforcement.
The writings is a condition of his 6 month jail stay. It'll be more of enduring reminder than a punishment.
Also, the judge is a federal one. He has his job for life (or, rather, 'good service' )

Quite genderful. I don't know why you persist on acting dumb, but he's perpetuating the "Guys can't touch girls" mindset. If it had nothing to do with gender neither wouldn't have been mentioned. He wouldn't have said "Boys shouldn't hit boys" either because that's also dumb as fuck by implying that boys should just hit girls instead, instead of each other. This is why genders were employed with his sentencing, the only other way would be if the judge doesn't know English.
He's already demonstrated his lack of understanding with how to deal interrelation cases with his prior teacher-rape sentencing where he inadvertently advocated pedophilia. He's traditionalist as hell and has all to do with gender.

Howabout instead of making a criminal write a sentence 5000 times, we make a judge write one resignation. It might make a certain judicial system 5000x better.
