• Holy Crap, Alberta Shell Stations Are Selling Gas At 1984 Prices
EDMONTON – To celebrate 30 years of refining in Alberta, Shell is bringing back 1984 gas prices at select retail locations Wednesday. Eight stations across Alberta will lower the price of bronze grade fuel to 039.9 cents per litre - the price it was 30 years ago. “I think it’s absolutely awesome. They should give back a little bit… gas is expensive, so when it drops, that’s why there are so many people lined up.” Sarah Courchesne wasn’t even born in 1984, but appreciated the deal all the same. “I’ve never seen any price this low,” she said. “Fill up… I’m running on empty… It’s pretty nice to be able to get gas this cheap.” Drivers shared the news on social media.
Source: http://globalnews.ca/news/1604493/shell-brings-back-1984-gas-prices-to-celebrate-anniversary/
thanks canada can we get some of those prices in america
can we get american prices in europe [editline]asdasd[/editline] Diesel is $6.62 per gallon and Euro95 is $8.68 per gallon at cheap pumps (highway ones are +10%)
brb driving to alberta
I'd bring a BUNCH of gas cans and load up like crazy on dirt cheap gas! Unless there's some kind of restriction...
can we get american prices in europe
Invade Iraq or Russia or someone so you can get some for yourself :v:
Meanwhile in the Netherlands... 2.62 CAD per litre, or 9 dollars per gallon. Edit:// Of which 60% is tax. Yay! Let me introduce you to Dutch car ownership: On top of that we get to pay roadtax. The weight of your car determines the height of the tax. And when you buy a car, you pay a certain amount of money for every gram of C02 your car emits.
My personal example: I drive a 2010 VW Touareg Hybrid, average of 20.000km per year. This means I use up €3.700 worth of fuel every year. That's €308 or $400 a month. My car weighs 4880 pounds, and I pay €1544 or $1.958 in roadtax annually. And I paid $13.000 environment tax on top of the price of the car, and I know a guy that drives a Range Rover 5.0 Supercharged 2014 model and he had to pay... hold on to your hats... €34.000 or $43.120 ON TOP OF THE price of the car.
Shits crazy, but everyone here is used to the high taxes (and it must be said the plusses that come with high taxation like an amazing social security system), so we all gladly pay up and pay many tens of thousands more than an American would if he were to buy the same car.
Will they pump your gas for you as well?
Meanwhile in the Netherlands... 2.62 CAD per litre, or 9 dollars per gallon.
I feel bad for you.
Meanwhile in the Netherlands... 2.62 CAD per litre, or 9 dollars per gallon.
What the shit, that's fucking ridiculously overpriced And I'm Australian and saying that
Cents? Per litre? What the hell. Feels extremely odd to have gas that cheap. Over here, we go nuts if it drops down a few cents, but actually dropping the equivalent to like 1 or 2 dollars/L ?
Hey, Alberta, wanna help out your ol' pal BC?
Will they pump your gas for you as well?
depends which station you go to I think. Over here you can go to the Native Reservation and they always pump it
It seems I can't get there... Orwell, maybe I'm better of without it.
I pay around 3.60 a gallon. It fluctuates a few cents in each direction. Sometimes it's good to live next to a refinery. Especially because our air quality is fucking amazing because the wind blows all that shit East. Sorry everyone east of here, but fuck you, my air is pure!

The average price here is like 1,800-1,900 per liter. At least Diesel is cheaper like 1,600.
here in britbongistan, average fuel cost is £1.27 per litre or roughly $2 on the dot.

Diesel here is always around 75 cents a gallon more expenensive than regular.
Will they pump your gas for you as well?
Well now that I've seen canadian gasprices, I'm going to start demanding the gas attendants in the Netherlands not only start pumping my gas, they will have to SUCK DICKwhilst doing it, AND they'll have to swallow afterwards. Anything less and I'm migrating to Canada.

Besides, a number of small cars are literally illegal here.
Just filled up my truck today, $3.10 a gallon for regular.[/editline]
A gallon is 4.5 Litres, making 1L $0.68 or £0.42. Fuck that - 1L of unleaded is ~£1.27 here.

Or the 52% income tax for every euro above €60.000 that you earn in a year.... Well quite honestly, we do receive a lot of benefits from the taxation that we have. Excellent roads, no massive government budget shortage, excellent elderly care, excellent healthcare, excellent pretty much anything the government is supposed to do. Most people drive cars like the Nissan Note etc.

America is a funny place, you're screwed when you get old, sick, or want to educate yourself but hey, V8.

Gas prices in Alberta in general are already the cheapest in Canada ffs why can't this happen in other provinces
this is only for a day though
Well even compared for the standard Canadian and American prices they ought to start sucking dick. Yes, the minimum quality we get in 95 octane were I believe in America you can very well get 87 octane from a gasstation but still. There's a 250 - 300% increase in asking price so start sucking dick. Well to be honest, it's due to taxes so maybe not gas attendants but government officials should start sucking dick whilst I'll pump my gas. Never mind Im going way too deep into dick sucking. We're talking about gasprices.
Wow. I wish that happened here in BC.
