The destroyer is currently on a training mission in the Barents Sea as part of the preparations for the upcoming tour-of-duty in the Gulf of Aden. “It will be the first anti-piracy mission for the Vice Admiral Kulakov destroyer,” Serga said. The new task force will replace the Russian Pacific Fleet’s task force headed by the Admiral Tributs destroyer, which completed its anti-piracy mission off the Somali coast on Monday and set sail for its home base in Vladivostok. The Admiral Tributs, the Pechenega tanker and a rescue tugboat arrived in the Gulf of Aden on January 12 and escorted five convoys of commercial ships since then. Task forces from the Russian Navy, usually led by Udaloy class destroyers, operate in the area on a rotating basis. Russian warships have successfully escorted more than 130 commercial vessels from various countries through pirate-infested waters off the Somali coast since 2008, when Russia joined the international anti-piracy mission in the region.
http://en.rian.ru/mlitary_news/20120327/172427290.html They're pretty good at dealing with them. Misleading title, figured this was going to be much funnier than it actually was haha
Expected RU special forces kicking down a 14-year-old's door and taking his computer.
Torrenting bootlegged movies?
that looks like it's about to get very painful
that looks like it's about to get very painful
It's actually in the training. They do that flip thing and have to hit the target, and land. I read about it on cracked. [editline]28th March 2012[/editline] It's pretty hardcore. [editline]28th March 2012[/editline] http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-true-stories-behind-5-famous-wtf-images/
By that map, there was 15396 pirate attacks in four years. 3849 attacks per year. Holy shit.
Vice Admiral Kulakov
Kulakov translates to fist, that's a pretty badass last name AND he's in the military
Bad time to be a pirate.
I'm more interested in the on-land pirate attacks.

[editline]28th March 2012[/editline] The two saddest parts about your post are 1. You used a calculator to divide 15,396 by 4, yet you still fucked up basic addition. 2. You average it out to 3849 attacks a year, yet the graph tells you how much happened in each year and all of them are less than 3849. In fact, all of them are less than 500. [editline]28th March 2012[/editline] I mean, what the fuck it even gives you data spread over 5 years... Don't know where the hell you got 4 from.

Funny, really, when we have to specify that pirates operate at sea.

I wonder what kind of training the anti-pirates got.

Wow I kind of feel sorry for those pirates in the video? Did the Russians give them a warning with any attempts at taking them alive or did they just blast the fuck out of them?

At least Russia has their pirate priorities straight. Stop real life pirates taking hostages and attacking leisure and trade ships? No way José! Making sure no one internet pirates Transformers 8: Revenge of the Turtles is top priority here in the US of A.
