Yes, it's boring as hell, and time consuming, but do you think people actually benefit from homework? Has anyone on facepunch actually refused to do homework? Do/did your parents back you up on hating homework? (User was banned for this post ("dumb kid stuff" - garry))
You have to do what you have to do. No point in complaining. [editline]04:43PM[/editline] I refused to do homework once. I almost failed due to that choice.
The only thing you really need to do is review before a test begins. I never done homework in my life and still got good grades.
Personally I think it's the result of bad planning on the teachers' part, why can't they just plan their lessons better to fit in the most important material? That aside, studying before tests is always a good thing! :eng101:
I, and most people too, just bullshit answers for the sake of getting it done, thus not learning anything.
I only do it so I can impress my teachers. I wanna fuck them so bad man.. I'm almost dying.
Get it done, as long as its not frickin' stupid.
We should all go back in time to stop homework from being invented.
Homework is a method to force students to review material. In a perfect world, there wouldn't be homework because students would actually bother to study without any enforcement.
A lot of people I knew didn't do their homework, but did what FunkyHippo did. I'm not so sure homework itself helps, but taking notes helped me a shitload. Homework was more like "look at the notes, copy the principles/ideas/content into the problem you face." And don't get me started on history "homework." That shit was a joke.
Once you hit your senoir year, it's a breeze. I just didn't do it. None of my teachers cared. You're meant to be doing studying in yor own time anyway by that time, extra work was pointless. They basically gave us it because the achool administration said they had to.
I get most homework done at school so I don't care much.
Some of it's ok when you're actually learning from it but a lot of it is just frustrating bullshit.
Homework is a method to force students to review material. If planning and writing a 10-page research paper in 3 days is homework, then it sucks balls.
If it's not due in tomorrow I don't care.
It's pointless busywork, nothing more.
Whether it benefits me or not, I'm hopeless at doing it. I'm probably the laziest worker at home that I know.
I don't get much homework aside from the occasional Trigonometry book work. Homework here isn't counted in our grade report, like quizzes and tests. I usually don't have to study aside from Physics and Trig, because my other two classes are piss easy. (World History, and British Literature/Composition) I'm so glad I only have 4 classes. :smug:
This year I've done probably about 6 or 7 hours of homework; and I'm doing A2 level.
Creative things like papers / research on your own (not PUT WATER IN A BOX SEE WHAT HAPPENS WRITE 10 THINGS IT DOES) make me 100x more interested than regular homework.
I usually only get homework for math. Since the math teacher doesn't bother having the TA correct the papers I just write random numbers down.
In my college, homework isn't always required, but if you want to get As, you better do it anyway. I like to think of homework as a test to see how dedicated you really are to learning, because in class it's hard to tell. You HAVE to be there, you don't have to do homework. Especially when there are other fun things to do.
Its either homework, or spend longer at school. Its also nice revision practice if you've just covered a hard topic.
I'll just feel guilty if I don't do my homework.. :frown:
It's pretty bad when you just start off at school. But when you work your way up the school, The teachers normally just tell you to revise so it's ok.
Personally I believe you should learn everything you need to in lesson time, as long as you do all the work. However the benefits of homework are that it forces you to revise, and a lot of people (myself included) find it extremely hard to revise unless an exam is imminent. Homework still sucks though, could probably get along fine in GCSE's (Age 15-16 exams) without homework. (Not at A2/AS)
Hah i merely have homework, might be because of extremely long days, what the fuck's this shit 8:30 to school and 16:30 out! That's hour longer than my mothers working day!
I never understood how so many people get away with not doing h/w, guess i go to a posh school then.
Homework is necessary, and it makes tests and quizes alot easier if you just do it. I don't get much of it, but it definitely aids in my understanding of a topic.
