The woman managed to escape along with her son, but her 9-year-old daughter was hanging from a window and was on the brink of a free fall when she was saved by the firefighters. A young firefighter, Amir Abbasi, gave his oxygen mask to 9-year-old girl. But he himself subsequently suffered brain death.

However, this was not the end for the young firefighter, as his family decided, in a laudable act, to give his body parts to be transplanted to patients in need of his organs.
http://www.payvand.com/news/13/may/1133.html
This guy is the definition of a hero.
A picture of this man needs to be in the dictionary, to illustrate the definition of hero.
Not that any expectations are placed on her because of this but... I do hope she realizes and honors the fact that another human paid the greatest of price so that she may live. Maybe visit his grave when she's old enough to understand what it means.
True hero. See, we Iranians aren't all about nukes and shit
Is that picture really him? He seems to be in pretty good condition for someone who's about to be brain dead.
That's amazing. No words can describe how brave that man was. My heart goes out to his family and hope that they realize he did something amazing.
Is that picture really him? He seems to be in pretty good condition for someone who's about to be brain dead.
He was probably fine in that very moment but quickly deteriorated after his adrenaline rush wore off. People are known for walking around minutes after being shot and succumbing to their injuries later. Assuming it is him, that is.
Is that picture really him? Either that or its an image from a previous fire he saved a girl from. Guy did his job to the dot though, nice that the family wishes to continue what he signed up for, saving people that is.
and a real human bean
This is why decent people will always be outnumbered by the self obsessed- The weak inherit the earth, they strive to rule the earth, and eventually win- because heros never last, and are content with that.

brain death is a odd term
what's brain death? my google isn't working
what's brain death? my google isn't working
the brain dies
what's brain death? my google isn't working
As in you're still technically alive but with no functions and without a machine you can't keep yourself alive.
that's a vegetative state, brain death is necrosis inside of the brain that literally kills you if you're legally dead or not depends on state/country
I hate news like this, because i feel like an useless piece of shit the entire day. :saddowns:
As in you're still technically alive but with no functions and without a machine you can't keep yourself alive.
That shouldn't be counted as being alive, though.
your blood pumps, your hair grows, you don't get rigor mortis alive.
your blood pumps, your hair grows, you don't get rigor mortis alive.
so if i could pump some liquid around in a bunch of tubes, those tubes would technically be just as alive as someone with really bad male pattern baldness?
no, basically what i'm saying is that consciousness isn't a qualification for life
no, basically what i'm saying is that consciousness isn't a qualification for life
No, but it is a qualification for human life.
it may no longer be a human life but it's still a life until biological functions cease completely
it may no longer be a human life but it's still a life until biological functions cease completely
What use is there in keeping someone that is brain dead 'alive'? It is better for them to donate his organs than to have his body lay in a bed stuck to a machine.
What use is there in keeping someone that is brain dead 'alive'?
it may no longer be a human life but it's still a life until biological functions cease completely
Eh, I'd say it's more a biological machine fending off necrosis at that point.
What use is there in keeping someone that is brain dead 'alive'? It is better for them to donate his organs than to have his body lay in a bed stuck to a machine.
It could be a good idea to keep the body functioning to keep the organs fresh for donation.
Eh, I'd say it's more a biological machine fending off necrosis at that point.
that's all life except human life for you :v:
He will be awarded all of the medals in the next life.
