And no, weren't thinking about Keiko, the robot patient currently seeing action in teaching hospitals in Japan. It just so happens that robot in question has more than a passing resemblance to Booji Boy, a character beloved to Devo fans world-wide. The robot, developed at the University of Tsukuba, is designed to teach people about childcare and parenting by portraying various facial expressions, movements, and physiological traits associated with babies, relying on a Rube Goldberg-esque array of water tanks, projectors, sensors, and sophisticated emotion control software to respond to your actions appropriately
Source: http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/18/baby-simulator-surfaces-in-japan-devo-wants-its-mascot-back-vi/#comments More photos: http://technabob.com/blog/2009/12/18/yotaro-baby-simulator/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+TechnabobtechNewsBlog+(technabob) wtf
Leading country in the world at robotics, still can't make it even fucking distantly resemble a baby.
ITT: Ugly baby robot is actually a pedophile
Can I shake it? Drown it? Stab it? Burn it? Because it's FUCKING UGLY and I need practice :v:.
For some reason it reminds me of the sun in the tellytubbies, I think it's because it's glowing or something.
For some reason it reminds me of the sun in the tellytubbies, I think it's because it's glowing or something.
And fucking ugly and/or annoying as hell.
Fuck yeah devo!
It's obvious there main buyers will be 40yr+ male's with history of sexual child offenses.
Huh, interesting. Also, Evilking1 rages at babies!
Oh japan
But the Japanese don't have children anymore, why did they make this?
Huh, interesting. Also, Evilking1 rages at babies!
Baby This thing Learn the difference, could save you from a paternity test one day.
What the fuck.
Whoa what the fuck, looks like something out of a cheesy 80's Sci Fi movie...
If it looks more human, it would probably be buttfucking scary
good lord.
It looks like a really fat Japanese baby with a fucking gigantic head got it's head stuck in a fish bowl smaller than it's head.
Why.... Why is it glowing?
Why.... Why is it glowing?
Radioactive baby
It looks fucking disturbing
I wonder what happens if you walk up to it and punch it at full strength.
Why is it that all people do is poke it?
I wonder what happens if you walk up to it and punch it at full strength.
I'll tell you what It'll do! Giggle.
It can't be in the shape of a baby, as it's not cute enough! It needs teddy-bear ears and a cuddley body! Kawaii! God what a pointless thing.
I find it funny that in the US we have dolls better than this. They cry when you should change them, take in water, etc., but this thing just sits there and displays an emotion. What the hell do you do when it smells, if you don't know anything other than how to make it shut up? /:rant:
Lol blob baby.
:wtc: Thats a horrible replica.
Why do they seem to think the defining characteristic of a baby is ability to be poked in the face?
Why do they seem to think the defining characteristic of a baby is ability to be poked in the face?
Shouldn't it be obvious by now?
lol giant baby
