OP, what format did you save them in?
Also, from now on, I'm writing lyrics by HAND. My handwriting is so crap I can't even read it sometimes.

try opening them in Notepad++ or Wordpad
Don't open .doc files with notepad.

Yes you did, .doc files store more information than a raw text file. It's cosmetic crap for people with a low attention-span.
Open it either in Wordpad, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Works Word Processor.

Notepad doesn't read .docs, if you don't have microsoft word, use openoffice to open them. It's a free program that acts pretty much just like MS Office.
