Hello Facepunch, I have been having some problems with my internet.
For some reason, all weekend my internet has been very slow.
For example: I bought Call of Duty: World at War on Steam. So, I started to download it and I noticed it was downloading the game at 100 KB/s. Last time I downloaded a game from Steam, it was going at about 500 KB/s.
I have also noticed that I cannot connect to any games on Modern Warfare 2. IWNet tries to find a game but once it it gets to "searching for games <110 Ms ( Ping )" I give up. Just on Thursday I usually connect to lower latency games-- around 60 Ms.
I'm using the free Avast Anti-Virus since January, and it was fine until Friday. Do I have a virus?
Specs:
Custom Built by myself
AMD Athlon II X2 at 3.0 Ghz
4 GB DDR3 1333 RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Man, I have been having so many problems with my rig. First my DVD/CD Drive dies and then this!
Thanks in advance.
Well, do a virus scan and you will see, but I think it has to do with your ISP. You should contact them, or be sure no one is downloading on your network.
oh no you have the same connection as I do, it must be a virus...
basically: No
Some people would kill to get 100mb/s download.
Like me. :sigh:

Or 10mb/s.

If you just let it run its course, can you connect to games?
Most of the time I find a lobby with a supposed ping of 130 but when I get in game it flattens out to a good 50.

No it doesn't.
I usually get into games less than 80 Ms.
I am sure no one else is on the network.
Thanks guys.
I'll try a virus scan.

Contacted Comcast. So they resetted modem, and I can connect to Modern Warfare 2 again at low ping games.
Problem: Ping in World at War is really high. Lowest ping for server is 120. Really?

KB/s
just wondering, does your ISP implement a download cap on your service, say if you download over X Gb your connection gets limited for Y amount of time
Who's your ISP?

He'd kill for a 100kb/s connection? that sucks, i get like 600kb/s
