Hey, would you mind helping me find a laptop in that range capable of playing Skyrim on pretty good settings, maxing most things on steam, etc.
(I can go a little bit higher if necessary, but would prefer not to)
Would you prefer 15.6 inches or 17.3 inches? Both are 1920x1080.
17.3 would be nice, thank you.
Well the best choices in my opinion are the Sager NP8150 or NP8170. The 8150 has a 15.6" panel and when outfitted with an HD 6990M + 750GB HDD it ends up being $1,494.
You could get the 17.3 inch NP8170 for the same price, but you'll have to pick an HD6990M + 500GB HDD due to the 17.3" model being more expensive.
I personally would get the 15.6 inch because I could fill up 500GB with movies and music alone, but it depends on your storage needs.

Thanks much. One other question, however; what is the best place to buy it? It's not on newegg/tigerdirect it seems.

You can buy it from sager's site that Zertokateo linked to. XoticPC is also a good place to buy it if you want to save some money by not being forced to get it with Windows if you have a copy already. Just make sure you choose the 2.2GHz i7 if you get from XoticPC, because there is also the 2.0GHz option.
It is better to deal with Xotic because I've heard bad things about sager's customer support.

Yah I'd personally get it from Xotic. I already have windows so I save some money there, I can also opt to use 4 2GB sticks of ram and save $50 to put towards an IPS screen.
