Will it be OK with Windows XP 32-bit
I've heard that you need 64-bit for 4gb or over which is what i have. I don't really want to spend that much money on windows 7 or something but if i have to, I will have to wait a while after I do build my PC.
Will my PC still run good with XP 32-bit or do i seriously need to upgrade to vista or win7?
the only reason you should still be using XP is if your system is completely incapable of handling 7
if you're in school or college you might be able get 7 cheaper from http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Windows_7_Professional_64_bit_Upgrade_Edition-details.aspx, if not get 7 Home Premium 64Bit
Thankyou, jesus. I can afford it now and yes, i'm going to college in 10 weeks or so.
No get 7 home premium 64 bit., theres no reason not to. Hell, XP is outdated now and won't use your system to its full potential.

Ninjaed.
Thanks anyway, I thought as much, I have used XP for a long time and i was too scared to use any other system since I did have Vista on my laptop but it was as soon as it came out and had a fuck load of bugs. I will get it from that site.

Careful, that's only an upgrade

Build looks good, but you may want to consider this psu as you don't need 650W

he could install XP then upgrade
I remember there was some trick to installing fresh using the upgrade but I don't know it off the top of my head
Yeah I still have my Windows XP disc. So i would have to upgrade it?
Yeah just like reapaninja said you should install XP and then windows 7

Huh? No... you can only upgrade from vista, unless something has changed.
AFAIK
5.1(XP)->6.1(win7) doesn't work,
6.0(Vista)->6.1(win7) does.
I thought you could only upgrade between major revs and minor revs not both.
EDIT:
FML you can
Just not x86 -> x64
^ Ah good. I was crapping my pants then.
Get Win7. Make sure it's 64 bit or you will only be able to use 3GB RAM. 32 bit operating systems can only manage 4GB ram, and that includes your graphics card's memory.
GamerKiwi just invented the new OS; Windows 7 34-bit!

you can directly upgrade if you're on the correct version of vista or you can do custom install or whatever it is, moves all your old files to windows.old
