Trump 'orders Barack Obama's ambassadors to resign their posts' in unprecedented move

Donald Trump has yet again proved that he is intent on ripping up the diplomatic rule book.
In an unprecedented move, the President-elect’s team are reported to have demanded ambassadors appointed by Barack Obama to leave their overseas posts by Inauguration Day on 20 January. The decision to provide no grace period for politically appointed ambassadors marks a significant break with decades of tradition.
The move risks leaving the US without envoys in key countries like Britain, Germany and Canada for months. It also means ambassador’s families have been forced to find places to live in America or their respective countries with very little notice.
According to a report in the New York Times, Mr Trump’s transition team issued the mandate “without exceptions” in a State Department order sent to diplomats on 23 December.

The order threatens to leave the United States without Senate-confirmed envoys for months in critical nations like Germany, Canada and Britain, the New York Times reported.
oh yes. other witch was better
'other witch' didn't plan to eliminate a healthcare system with no means of replacement
oh yes. other witch was better
Well yeah. Say what you will about Hillary, at least she wouldn't be picking international fights over Twitter, talking about how we need to have the most nukes, the best nukes, all the nukes to show everyone how big our balls are, trying to get international politicians to stay at the hotel she owns, bitching constantly about everyone making fun of her, packing her cabinet full of the exact kind of people she said she wouldn't, etc, etc.
Aren't US ambassadors required to submit their resignation after each presidential term (which usually gets accepted when there is a new administration)?

I believe the article mentions that they usually apply for an extension and let it be dealt with later, but its a case by case basis.
yeah she just accepted money from allahu akbars, emailed national secrets, deleted all emails and wanted a war with russia. i rather have some1 bitching on twitter.
I'd rather have an intact health insurance system and 20 million americans not losing their coverage.
oh yes. other witch was better
Where did I ever say I support Hillary or even that she was a better choice? Trump being a manchild isn't okay because Hillary was shit.
yeah she just accepted money from allahu akbars, emailed national secrets, deleted all emails and wanted a war with russia. i rather have some1 bitching on twitter.
trump takes money from arab governments directly to his wallet for building hotels there.
I'd rather have an intact health insurance system and 20 million americans not losing their coverage.
Yea we were gonna need that healthcare for her russian invasion plans
trump takes money from arab governments directly to his wallet for building hotels there.
so having hotels is worst than emailing national secrets and accept money for campaign directly from people who support isis? yeah i guess having hotel is worst.
Yea we were gonna need that healthcare for her russian invasion plans
I guess letting the people suffer thanks to everything being gutted won't be as bad then, as long as we get those outdated jobs that don't exist back :downs:
calling it: assassinated or impeached in his first year
you can do research for yourself, you are big boy
burden of providing sources is on the one making the claim fyi, while he can research things on his own you have to also back it up yourself when making a claim
that's optimistic
maybe first 2 years
man what is it with people in trump threads and bringing up hypothetical hillary worst-case scenarios like they're some kind of defense for the horrible shit trump is doing
you can do research for yourself, you are big boy
and any validity or credibility you may have had is lost, just like that
man what is it with people in trump threads and bringing up hypothetical hillary worst-case scenarios like they're some kind of defense for the horrible shit trump is doing
what horrible shit?
oh yes. other witch was better
B-b-but Shillary!!1
Holy shit this thread got derailed fast
While giving no grace period and completely denying extensions is a move I don't agree with, you have to keep in mind that most US ambassadors are political appointees instead of career diplomats, and quite a few of those are simply campaign donors:

This is by no means a new practice but Obama used it extensively (for example the current Hungarian ambassador is a TV producer, with no past diplomatic experience whatsoever). This might give some insight why Trump is so keen replacing them en-masse.
Also the headline seems to imply that the unprecedented move is the resignation itself, which is actually required for them after each presidential term (which might or might not get accepted, usually it is accepted when there is a new president).

That's their only defense, scream about how Clinton would be worse than Trump and about those wretched e-mails again and again when Trump is objectively the worse candidate, already implementing bullshit and flip-flopping on everything he said during the election
But I guess post-truth politics and identity politics matter to them more than doing what's necessary for the country, even better when you're sticking it to de big gubberment :downs:

look as i said go to your credible sourses, do research for yourself for once. and since when bitching on twitter is a bad thing? celebrities do that every day but for them is cute i guess.
i'm sure it'll be cute when a second cold war is started because trump, the future chief diplomat of the country, can't shut his fucking mouth

Is he too friendly with Russia or is he starting a new cold war? Just can never know with people.
