You do know that the distance itself has nothing to do with you not getting decent internet connections? Internet signals are sent across the world with cables going through the ocean, that's why you can visit asian websites with their hosts located in their own countries.
The problem is that you live in a rural area with too few people to make up for the cost of improving your infrastructure, like digging up and placing new cables. It literally costs millions.
