I have two HP w2338h monitors. I've been using them since July.
The left one suddenly started displaying red flickering pixels in dark areas [they move position with the picture, so it can't be individual broken pixels]. This only happens after the monitor has been in sleep mode for awhile, after about 2 hours of being on, the red pixels go away.
The other monitor doesn't do it. I've swapped the monitors physically and in the control panel and its still the same physical monitor that is only displaying problems, so its not the computer or the cables, but the monitor itself.
Should I be worried? has anyone had this?
Try resetting the colour/contrast settings using the buttons on the monitor...
If that doesn't work, do you have a warranty?
Sounds like pixel death to me, its not a major problem unless it really bothers you
You can always get a replacement if under warrenty
Probably a stuck pixel, not dead. Stuck pixels will display the wrong color and stuff, dead pixels will just not even be activated and simply show black. Stuck pixels are fixable, but flashing red? Doesn't sound stuck to me..
Sounds like the monitor is burning out or something, all monitors eventually burn out and need to be replaced
