Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) Pushes for Reinstatement of DADT
A member of the House Armed Services Committee plans to introduce legislation next week designed to put the brakes on repeal of the military’s ban on openly gay troops.
The measure by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) would add the four military service chiefs to the list of those who must sign off on repealing the policy before it can be officially scrapped.
Hunter, an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, is concerned that the bill passed in December repealing the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy “excluded the service chiefs from the certification process,” said one congressional aide.
The repeal bill, signed into law Dec. 22 by President Obama, requires only the OK of the president, defense secretary and Joint Chiefs chairman.
“The chairman technically speaks for the chiefs, but they should be included in the debate,” said the aide. “The chiefs are the ones carrying the burden of combat on their shoulders.”
Hunter’s measure would require the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps chiefs to submit to the congressional defense committees “written certification that repeal … will not degrade the readiness, effectiveness, cohesion and morale of combat arms units and personnel of the armed force under [each] officer’s jurisdiction engaged in combat, deployed to a combat theater, or preparing for deployment to a combat theater,” according to a copy obtained by The Hill.
“The emphasis here is on combat troops,” said the aide, “because when Congress heard from the military chiefs, it was the leaders of the Army and Marine Corps who had the strongest concerns — the services that are most engaged in war right now.”
The aide said Hunter could introduce the bill as soon as Tuesday evening, adding that “15 to 20” members — so far all Republicans — have signed on.
"Gay men can't fight."
No seriously, fuck all republicans. The law hasn't even been allowed to take effect yet, mother fucking self-righteous bigots.
lol politics and their anti-gay laws

Put them in the military, If they fuck up, then punish the one who fucks up
No pun intended
Anyone who is anti-gay is either brainwashed, or a bigot.
As if being a homosexual has ever been determent when fighting.

Just look at the Spartans.

I dunno, usually when I find myself grappling with a guy who's trying to hold me down and keep me subdued, I can't help but just give up and let it happen.

That is easily the most idiotic argument against repealing DADT I've ever heard.

or conservative

It's not an argument, its silliness.
I agree with the DADT repeal, I could fight as well as anyone else given the training, I just choose not to.

You should realize that there exist opponents of this repeal that argue in the same style as him. Just browse Liveleaks and you'll see what I mean.

Tonight... You.
Most of the Republicans in Congress are closeted gays.
Everyone in the military (that I know) is gay anyway. Being in combat surrounded by men 24 hours a day for a year will make most people want to bum eachother.
Greek soldiers and nobility used to have 'relations' with young men. Best thing to call it is thigh rape. Gross in my opinion, but not something that impeded upon their ability or will to fight. Not any different today.
Religion and personal preferences have absolutely no place in modern politics. I'm once again disgusted with my government.

Just sayin'.

Or a closet homosexual.
Oh my god when will they understand that what we were doing wasn't working.
Or a closet homosexual.
This is plausible, there's quite a few coping mechanisms which cause a person to be extremely opposed to how they actually feel on a subject.
The spartans are a damn good example, well done for bringing that up.
Most of the Spartans had at least one wife, sometimes more. They also had sexual relationships with the other soldiers and were incredibly close. Look at all the greek-age gay illustrations there are around. The spartans fought so fiercely at battles such as Thermopylae against HUGELY overwhelming numbers. They really cared about each other more than just as friends and squadmates.
It seems homophobia has been brought by 'modern' religions within the last two to four millenia with the advent of more hypocritical religions such as Christianity and Islam.
Just look at the Spartans.
They had to dress up the women as men just to get them married
Oh boy here we go again, can't this generation of dumbasses just die off already?
I thought DADT was created to protect homosexuals from abuse. Might be wrong though.

It was. But it's made it worse.
It was. But it's made it worse.
No it wasn't. It was a compromise to avoid what the right TRULY wanted, an all-out ban on homosexuals.
