With a 4.8-inch HD display, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been officially unveiled during Samsung’s eagerly awaited London based ‘next Galaxy’ event After months of speculation, countless rumours and claimed leaks, Samsung has officially unveiled the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S3 with the handset confirmed for release. The most hotly anticipated Android handset to date, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is set to build on the strong foundations laid out by its Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 predecessors with a new quad-core processor leading a band of hugely impressive specs. With styling similarities to the curved edge design found on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the S3, which is to forgo the standard black in favour of ‘Pebble Blue’ and ‘Marble White’ colour forms, will come packing Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system direct from the box. Samsung Galaxy S3 Specs A true powerhouse of the smartphone sector the S3 has expanded on the market-leading array of innards that made its predecessor a global success with the company's own 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core processor providing the grunt alongside a welcomed 1GB of RAM. Adding inches to past models the newly confirmed S3 lines up with an expansive 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with stunning visuals handled with ease thanks to the screen’s eye wateringly attractive 1280 x 720p resolution and 306 pixels-per-inch image density that puts is only marginally lower than the iPhone 4S’ Retina display. Lining up on the rear to keep consumers appeased and the snap-happy grinning, an 8-megapixel camera features with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities. Adding to the handset’s photographic and video capturing capabilities, the S3 also plays host to an impressive 1.9-megapixel front-facing snapper that holds its own with 720p HD video. Setting the Galaxy S3 apart from the flurry of high-end Android competitors and the Apple iPhone 4S, Samsung has fitted it with a selection of headline grabbing features including an innovative Smart Stay characteristic that utilises facial recognition style software to keep the screen illuminated as long as users are looking at it. On top of this the handset will play host to Siri esque S Voice dictation and voice command software with a selection of 16, 32 and 64GB storage options that can be further expanded by a microSD card. Maintaining the minimalist form of its predecessor whilst improving its staying power, the Samsung Galaxy S3 lines up at just 8.6mm thick and 133g in weight with a 2100mAh battery combating the rapid power drain experienced on most modern smartphones. An accelerometer and digital compass also feature. Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date and Price Taking a leaf out of Apple’s book Samsung is to follow tonight’s unveiling with a rapid turnaround that will see the Samsung Galaxy S3 lining retailer’s shelves and consumers palms in a matter of weeks. fucking YES [editline]3rd May 2012[/editline] Not as "revolutionary" as I thought, but still pretty good.
Well, fuck this iPhone 4, time to move on to something good.
Bad design, horrible glossy finish, lots of gimmicky software which will play hell with battery (SmartStay I'm looking at you) and with the size of this thing its Galaxy Note territory. This year it's time for HTC, their One X has a better screen and a lovely design (of course that part is my opinion) the CPU may not be as powerful as the Exynos but the Tegra 3 is more widely supported by developers. That being said the Software side of it is pretty impressive and something I'd like, it really does add a lot of personalisation to the phone. I just mainly dislike that design.
I'd get it.
well so much for all those stupid wireless charging rumors
well so much for all those stupid wireless charging rumors
It does have a wireless charging mat as an optional extra, but none of the 2-4 metre radius that was rumoured.
Seems nice but I have a couple of problems with it over the One X. The design looks like traditional samsung plastic which I find ugly, esepcially when compared to the ~ jizz tastic ~ HTC One designs (in my onion). And the NFC "S-Beam" only works with other S3's, seriously wtf happened there?

My phone is still some Nokia from the last millenium. :v:
I think it's very ugly.
4.8" no way. Id never buy a phone of that size. 4.2" is huge enough for most users IMO I have a 3.7" xperia Neo, its a bit small, but its fine for web browsing.
Sounds like the smartphone I've been waiting for. A bit large but web browsing on anything much smaller is just painful.
Looks pretty awesome to me, overall. My biggest concern is that I hope the new battery really improves life time. My S2 is always dying.
why do people say its ugly? it looks amazing
I've never owned a smartphone. Never understood the hype
I've never owned a smartphone. Never understood the hype
If you get one you'll understand. I made the switch about 6 months ago and I could never go back to a basic cell phone.
If it's out by the first week of June I'll be able to get one.

Samsung should really hire some more talented graphic designers, TouchWiz is still an abomination. I can't also help laughing at the 1:1 clone of Siri, it's like they are asking for a lawsuit Samsung, I expected better than this from you.
Hello my new phone, although a little disappointed as i expected it to be pebble shaped :(
Looks must worse than I expected. I own the SII, and while it IS an improvement, there are serious issues. Pros: Exynos Quad Core processor- this is awesome 720p display- also awesome Releases this month in Europe, next month in America- also awesome because last time the American one was about 6 months later NFC - USA already had this with the SII, but everyone should have it Removable SD card and Battery - There is a trend to not do this, so I'm glad Samsung isn't giving in 2100mAH battery - This is pretty big, I'm excited New smaller features - Woah Eye tracking? That's pretty intense, maybe thats what the battery size is for? Cons: Same camera as before - They have better ones, not sure why they didn't use them Tons of shitty software - Nobody uses the AllShare shit that was on the last one, why is there more now? Siri Ripoff - Doubt it will be as good, android OEMs never compare with Apple on software, only Google does. Biggest Con: The commercial - Holy shit is this a phone commercial or a Viagra/Cialis commercial? I can't tell.
Yeah, looks nice but I think 4.8" is just a little big for me.
Jesus christ why is it even ROUNDER. And why not black? I prefer SGS2 look by far. I won't pretend I have money to get it, but I would stay on SGS2 for now, anyway, and wait for something else for now.
It looks like a phone. That's all I need.
May 29th for Europe release for all those wanting it asap.

I started laughing halfway through and couldn't stop.. "Designed for humans" seriously?
