• Building a $350 gaming rig for my friend

So, I'm building a comp for my friend, and I was wondering what are the best parts I can get for $350. Bonus points if most/all the parts are available at microcenter. Heres what I have so far, and its pretty much the same build that TekSyndicate did, but its 71 dollars more.. huh... Why don't you use pcpartpicker? It lists all deals and stuff going on with parts, and is good with a budget.

Try this. http://www.choosemypc.net/
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/27wtD It's a bit hard when you pick out $2000 rigs and see a $350 system. A $350 system is okay, but I hope he's not trying to play crysis or battlefield
you should probably suggest for your friend to save up some more money really...
Yeah. Understand that the system is probably going to play minecraft, garrys mod, and a few older games (Tribes 2 or Quake). You hit a point to determine if the processor, graphics, RAM, or hard disk space is necessary.

TonyTheBean, can you talk to your friend about the budget again? Edit: Just found comparison on it. Core speed is equal but the a10-6800k has better memory management and texture rate. So yeah, flayne's is the way to go.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/28Qgc There we go. This is under-budget, You'll just need to pick a case that can support a Micro-ATX motherboard - most full sized cases will anyway. $290 or so. Tell your friend to keep the extra 50 he has left over and save up for a better graphics card. EDIT: Mobo size, derp
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/28Qgc There we go. Tell your friend to keep the extra 50 he has left over and save up for a better graphics card.
That motherboard is not mini-itx, it's microATX. Also since the build doesn't include a case he's not actually saving $50. The 500 GB HDD only saves $8, 4GB of (low frequency) RAM is a bad idea because you run the risk of overflowing your RAM in the middle of a game and having to use the HDD (incredibly slow), the PSU is just the antec version of the one in my build (and corsair is a preferable brand over antec), the dvd drive is not necessary and a waste of money, other than that all you've done is downgrade the processor. Considering this is a $350 build, this person is not likely to make any upgrades any time soon, so there's no reason to save up money for a GPU. Granted the 5800k isn't that far behind; although, honestly, they are all one or two frames per second behind each other: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_a10_6800k_review_apu,18.html
