• New laptop for £700 or less

Basically I need a new laptop and my budget is £700 or less. I will be using this laptop for gaming, listening to music and browsing the internet. I've been recommended the Dell Creative Studio 15 laptop, but I have also looked at the Lenovo G560. Links: Dell: http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home/Laptops/laptop-studio-1555/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-studio-1555&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&ref=lthp Lenovo: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/223346 I'm leaning towards the Dell as it is much more customisable but the Lenovo has the specs I believe I need for what I want to do.
By gaming I hope you mean Source games, command and conquer, and the like. [editline]01:13AM[/editline] holy 35 posts per day?
well I would prefer to be able to play games being released soon such as Mafia II and Fallout New Vegas, even if I have to run them on medium - low settings. [editline]09:37AM[/editline] I know it'll be a hard task with the budget I have but my friend has that Lenovo I believe, and it's not a bad laptop at all, it can run MW2 (at least on the lower settings), but it runs it nonetheless. However I don't know if it would be able to run newly released games towards the end of this year.
Yeah, don't expect to run anything after 2008 (in most cases).
New games will not generally run on a laptop because of the fact that they are mobile GPU's etc. You need a desktop if you are going to game or a much larger budget then you currently have.
The middle one will do okay on most modern games: https://www.sonystyle.co.uk/SonyStyle/VAIO-Laptop-PCs/E-Series-14-15-17/?_b=x&cid=14200000&s_kwcid=sony%20VAIO%20EB|5654151735
what configuration though? [editline]12:13PM[/editline] Basic is fine, although you could add another GB of ram hmmm.
A computer for £700 (even including an OS and Monitor) would be far better than a laptop for the same price [editline]12:50PM[/editline] This comes to around £530 and leaves you with some spare room for an OS and monitor: http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/f16f4e873b984e099c49ea04591435c7 If you don't need an OS or are a student and can get it for £30 then get this CPU instead: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-955-BlackEdition-Sok-AM3-32GHz-8MB-Total-Cache-125W-Retail

I didn't realise that it supports DDR2 RAM, so few new motherboards do these days I didn't bother to check. This one is a suitable replacement: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Gigabyte-GA-MA770T-ES3-AMD-770-AM3-PCI-E-20-(x16)-DDR3-1666-1333-SATA-3Gb-s-RAID-ATX

Yeah, I guess.
