What should I be looking for when buying an external HDD?

I'm looking to buy an external HDD to store around 10gb of data. Includes server files, MySQL databases and some other sensitive info and I'm wondering if there is anything specific I should be looking for? Since I'm looking to store such a small amount of data I feel like I should just search by lowest price and grab the cheapest one?
Reason I'm looking for an external HDD is because I can't think of anything else to hold this on, if you have any suggestions then please tell me. :)
I would be looking to get it from ebuyer if possible, I don't really care about the price.
Nothing is really special in that category, it's mainly your preferences. Except if you're talking about a NAS.
If you only want to store 10 GB of data, why not just buy a 16 GB flash drive? They're much cheaper, take up much less space and use a ton less power. Not to mention they're more reliable.
hell buy a 32gb usb, have a little extra space, they're like $20

Buy 4 of them and make a USB software RAID5 :downs:
i read 10gb as 10tb and then i was seriously confused where to get a 10TB external HDD

Get an external NAS and put 3 of those new 4 TB drives in it in RAID0. Or you could do 4 drives in RAID5 if you needed redundancy. It'd be ridiculously expensive though and put about a $2500 hole in your pocket.
Get a 32GB usb 3.0 flash drive.
-portable
-very small
-light
-fast, you'll enjoy the quick read/write speeds, its worth the little extra price
-32gb can store your other files too
You dont need a external HDD because you only need like 10GB, they are big and clunky

USB 3.0 flash drives seem to still be suffering teething troubles, I would stay away from them. I've read reviews of people saying they have amazing speeds initially and then suddenly die or the performance falls way off.
I've got the patriot XT Xporter models in 3.0 and 2.0 and seem to be one of the best out there in terms of reliability. Durability is there but the cap is easily lost.
