BSD or Gentoo?

I want to run a completely self-compiled system, but I'm not sure if I should use BSd or Gentoo. BSD looks simpler, Gentoo is Linux and has some better support.

Can somebody help me decide?

both, use Gentoo with the BSD kernel.

I'd go with Gentoo. I can't say for BSD, but Gentoo isn't that hard if you know what you're doing.
