I think they are building them to make them terrorist proof. I'm not sure, but they might be reinforcing the structure more to withstand a plane hitting it, I could be wrong but they should. I just hope these last. Stupid arabs, they have their own tall buildings but we aren't crashing shit in them.

It's a bit of both.
Not only are there these four, but there's also 7 WTC which was finished in 2006.

I am pretty sure they would not even consider building these if they didn't consider the designs to be plane proof. I don't think they would mind having another attack on wtc just to prove they are badass towers.
