• North Korea accidentally hit one of its own cities with a ballistic missile
In April, Pyongyang launched a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile that failed shortly after launch and ended up hitting the city of Tokchon, roughly two hours from the capital, The Diplomat reported on Wednesday. The missile's failure was widely reported at the time but it was not previously known that the Hwasong-12 crashed in a populated area. From a location near North Korea's Pukchang Airfield, the missile flew approximately 39 kilometers (24 miles) to the northeast where it struck a complex of industrial or agricultural facilities in Tokchon, The Diplomat said, citing satellite imagery. That complex, located near residential and commercial buildings, likely experienced a large explosion but The Diplomat said it was impossible to determine whether there were casualties.
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/04/north-korean-city-of-tokchon-was-hit-by-a-ballistic-missile-the-diplomat.html
this is apparently old news but the new news for it is that it hit a populated area
this is apparently old news but the new news for it is that it hit a populated area
Yep. It was known that the missile failed, but not that it landed on one of NK's own cities.
this is apparently old news but the new news for it is that it hit a populated area
Whilst I don't have a huge amount of faith in our intelligence services, I don't know how it is possible for you to get the idea that we could have missed a missile launch, mate. :) It is, however, more difficult to determine which areas are population centres, at what times and further analyses etc. People have this idea that satellite imagery allows one to zoom in on people's heads, but it's nothing like as good as that, and overcast weather can make such determinations impossible immediately, anyway. This is the sort of thing that moves me more to think that we should just invade NK, to hell with the consequences, due to the incredible hardship these people are suffering being worse than the casualties that would happen in SK. I know that this is emotional and stupid, so don't think that I actually think we should do this using my brain, but it is easy to see how an itchy trigger finger develop, as this just brings to light how disgusting this government is. You have a government taking crops from the people to build weapons to fail and then fucking kill them. To reiterate, before anyone says something: I am not saying we should invade, just that this is bringing to fore the human cost of this regime in unexpected ways for me.
North Korea continues to be dangerously stupid... I really hope this doesn't end up escalating, the poor buggers living there have endured enough shit already. But a diplomatic, peaceful resolution happening while both Kim Jong and Trump are in power and constantly making jabs at eachother...? I gotta' say, I'm not optimistic, guys.
What if North Korea ended up nuking themselves out of existence
What if North Korea ended up nuking themselves out of existence
It would be extremely sad, as you should remember that 25million innocent, malnourished suppressed populations live there too, not just the awful leadership.
This would be funny if it weren't for all of the innocent lives that had no option other than to live in a state where they're treated as collateral damage.
Its like that Chinese rocket that hit a village and the media was told that nothing was wrong as they drove through it on the way out of the rocket site despite all the buildings having been gutted by the fire. How much do you want to bet there is never going to be even an official recognition that this happened by NK

Do we know if it had an explosive payload or no?

Now it’s going to be impossible.
