According to a news report from Hong Kong’s press, North Korea is interested to purchase domestic submarines that is manufactured by some enthusiast from China. Last year, we had covered a story on a Chinese laid-off man who build his own DIY submarines for sale. The 38-year-old man, named Zhang Wuyi, opened a factory to build small submarines in Wuhan, central China. He has not much engineering background but designs the submarines from his ‘imagination’. The diving transport has everything needed for simple underwater work, such as grabbing and lifting, emergency oxygen reserves as well as an underwater video camera for monitoring, it cost only about US$31,000. The news has widely circulated and many buyers approached Mr. Zhang, willing to order his domestic submarines. One of the buyer claimed to be a representative of North Korea, consulted about the purchase.[/quote]

Come on North Korea you can do better than that
At least they have good taste, I kinda wanted to buy one too:v:
He should install tracking devices in them.
Probably doesn't even have GPS
I misread title as DUI Submarines. I was highly dissapointed.
I wouldn't even think someone would be able to get away with something like that in China. Very cool.
There is a guy who makes submarines without knowing much about engineering.
That sounds cool.

Yeah I wouldn't set a foot on board of that vehicle.
Nothing against DIY stuff, but when somebody answers "engineering?" with "IMAGINATION" while talking about a fucking submersible vehicle, it's sorta scary.

It's probably why North Korea wants one.
It might run on unicorn.
Given that he has a good market and they all work as advertised, I would say he is probably good at building them.
they should buy these instead

For other uses they sound fine, but for an attack sub it most likely would be a loud "shoot me" can.

"How efficient are the submarines dear General?"
"They get 50 Leprechauns per Kilo of Pixie Dust dear Leader!"
"Excellent! Buy 100, those Western dogs won't know what hit them."
with the grey metal red star design they look like something out of just cause 2

this totally bodes well for them

so? the things seem to work. his "imagination" is probably "engineering" that he didn't consciously study. you understand the way a ball will fly through the air without necessarily knowing all the physics in play, because you have experience with it. this guy might have such experience with his craft that he knows how it works without being able to convey it in a scientific way.

Except submarines are fucking dangerious. They want to sink and if something goes wrong - they often do.
They don't have displacement as a safety net.
I'd rather have the Nautilus

UC3 Nautilus is a privately built Danish submarine. It was launched on 3 May 2008 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built over a three-year period as an art/hobby project by Peter Madsen and a group of volunteers, and cost approximately US$200,000 to build (1.5 million DKK).

Why is there an XM8 stuck to the side?

How else are you supposed to sink trade ships.
That is so cool. I wish they would hire me to help make one.

Not being formally educated in a field doesn't mean you can't be an expert on it. Read up on Michael Faraday.

Yes but expertly built ones haven't had the greatest safety record.
And those are ones with huge budgets and quality sourced parts.
