I know it's caused by the combination of quite a lot of drugs that release serotonin into the brain. I'm on two medications that Wikipedia says release serotonin. Risperidone (antipsychotic) and Citalopram (an SSRI). I plan on taking many drugs throughout the year and was just wondering, seeing as I don't want Serotonin Syndrome, what's my limit? My dosages are:
Risperidone: 2mg per day
Citalopram: 10mg per day
I'm having trouble using Google to find out how much of what I can take on my dosages, do you have any idea DD?

Risperdone will not effect/cause serotonin syndrome. I took it for years and nothing happened.

Not sure about your question but I know that you shouldn't bother taking any psychedelics whilst on an SSRI as they diminish the effect.
As far as I am aware, any drug that releases serotonin in the brain shouldn't be taken while on an SSRI, and you should stop taking a few weeks before hand.
Risperidone releases Serotonin? That's news to me. It's just a dopamine antagonist AFAIK. Anyway, if you're on those drugs you'll be okay with most serotonergic drugs however I would start small and adjust your dosages accordingly. Avoid DXM whilst on citalopram and avoid all strong stimulants whilst on risperidone.

Dan is pretty much the Man
When combining drugs with MAOI drug, SS can hapen quite fast. A strong MAOIs, a class of anti-depressant drugs, blocks or destroys enzymes, that breakdown serotonin (also other neurotransmitters), which can mean that, by other drug releasing serotonin, there will be build up of serotonin, activating big numbers of serotonin receptors, which can be fatal. But chances of surviving SS is big, and can also happen with other drugs that are not labelled MAOI.
But if you felt fine when using drugs then you are unlikely to be experiencing SS.
