A network of Twitter accounts with ties to the Russian government-linked troll army that meddled in U.S. politics posted dozens of pro-Brexit messages on the day of the referendum on the United Kingdom's membership of the European Union in June 2016, a CNN analysis has found.
The tweets, which were accompanied by popular referendum-related hashtags, mocked the pro-European Union campaign's warnings of the consequences of a vote for Brexit, and targeted then-British prime minister David Cameron, who had campaigned for his country to stay in the EU.
This is the first instance of coordinated pro-Brexit tweeting confirmed to have come from the Internet Research Agency. Other news organizations have identified accounts from people posing as American conservatives who posted some tweets in favor of Brexit, which fit the invented personas of those accounts. But the Russian accounts CNN identified as posting about Brexit were not nearly as elaborate as those, and were pretending to be from countries other than the U.S. or U.K. Their value appears to have come from a short-term play: Increasing their activity on the day of the vote in order to push pro-Brexit memes to people looking at neutral hashtags about the referendum.
Of course they did. The Russians have figured out that the internet makes for easy manipulation of the Western public. Far easier that other methods of subverting our society.

So are you actually going to try and disprove the article's claims about this or are you just shitposting because the poor Russian government being implicated in foul play hurts your feelings?

Russia would benefit hugely from the US and EU's destabilisation. There's been proof of their involvement time and time again. You can deny this all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Russia is very interested in seeing the EU dissolved, as it'll open up the door for them to reestablish control over the former Soviet countries, and perhaps more.

These hackers are obviously government backed. How would an individual benefit from destabilization of US snd EU? They are paid by the people, who benefit from their actions. And that's, where government comes to mind.

Okay do you have any real points here or are you just going to post the same "lol you actually think it's Russia haha!" bullshit that you usually do?
remember kids- if Russia is implicated in any sort of shady shit- uh uh uhhhh- then they, uh, they just didn't do it that's ridiculous, I don't have any evidence as to why but- l-look how ridiculous you are!

That the Russian government has launched a global campaign of destabilization against Western powers is a hard fact, backed up by every intelligence agency in the Western world. I know you're this forum's biggest apologist for Putin's tyranny, but you are arguing against reality itself right now. Present evidence, or stop posting.
In this new age of the internet, it doesn't seem clear that we've even made rules yet to prevent this sort of thing. It doesn't seem clear that there even exists a rule we could implement that would both prevent this and preserve the haven of free speech and content that is the internet. Perhaps some sort of cloudflare type apparatus that would detect a massive wave of posts from one location, but even that would be difficult to adjudicate.

It's hard to think of something that doesn't go too far. The best solution to this is still the long-term one, educating people

While this used to be the rule during years, the events of the past two-three years have russian trails so is not like there are not elements to prove them.
P.D: Our government saying the Russians are helping Catalonians by disinformation is just another of the bullshit they usually say, like everytime they invent a conflict with Gibraltar and then after getting backlash they go "Even the EU defends UK, unbelieveable!".
Although probably some bot is trying to get advantage of the situation by stirring up more, I don't discard that after the last week were discovered several bots on both sides.
