On Saturday, April 9, Colorado had an “election” without voters. Delegates were chosen on behalf of a presidential nominee, yet the people of Colorado were not able to cast their ballots to say which nominee they preferred.
A planned vote had been canceled. And one million Republicans in Colorado were sidelined.

In recent days, something all too predictable has happened: Politicians furiously defended the system. “These are the rules,” we were told over and over again. If the “rules” can be used to block Coloradans from voting on whether they want better trade deals, or stronger borders, or an end to special-interest vote-buying in Congress—well, that’s just the system and we should embrace it.

Let me ask America a question: How has the “system” been working out for you and your family?
I, for one, am not interested in defending a system that for decades has served the interest of political parties at the expense of the people. Members of the club—the consultants, the pollsters, the politicians, the pundits and the special interests—grow rich and powerful while the American people grow poorer and more isolated.
No one forced anyone to cancel the vote in Colorado. Political insiders made a choice to cancel it. And it was the wrong choice.
Responsible leaders should be shocked by the idea that party officials can simply cancel elections in America if they don’t like what the voters may decide.
The only antidote to decades of ruinous rule by a small handful of elites is a bold infusion of popular will. On every major issue affecting this country, the people are right and the governing elite are wrong. The elites are wrong on taxes, on the size of government, on trade, on immigration, on foreign policy.
Why should we trust the people who have made every wrong decision to substitute their will for America’s will in this presidential election?
(The article was written by Trump)
Spoken like a true Trotskist :v
Honestly though he's right about what he's saying here, but it's just a shame that this very real and well articulated concern will be overshadowed by the attempts to find offense in his words and his personality. I also think this would be greeted with national applause if Sanders published it, but as usual only the apparent "racist trump supporters" will agree with this, so it's not like their opinions are valid anyway, right?
I wish his speeches were this well articulated. He sounds much smarter than he usually does in this article.

His speeches are written to appeal to the lowest common denominator, which is something any politician has to do. This is a side of Trump most people don't really know about.
At least both him and Sanders want to change the system while Cruz, Clinton and Karisch seem pretty content on just letting it continue
I guess this is the start of his strategy for responding to defeat at a contested convention
He's not wrong. Democracy in America is going downhill. The Economist's democracy index places the US at #20 in the world in 2015, and at 8.05/10 it is only 0.05 points away from being reclassified from a 'full democracy' to a 'flawed democracy' - alongside other countries like Argentina, India and Serbia.

We probably shouldn't ignore the stupid shit he says only because he says some correct things from time to time, broken clock etc etc.
-well nevermind-
And why shouldn't it be? He could write the Citizen Kane of articles and still, his concerns are only as valid as his end goal for solving them
What you're saying is that this should be overshadowed by the media trying to falsely paint him as a racist or sexist?
What you're saying is that this should be overshadowed by the media trying to falsely paint him as a racist or sexist?
i had to edit that post because it was ambiguous at first, but now i realize it makes no sense
He sees the polls and wants to get the Bernie vote, which Bernie doesn't want that.
At least both him and Sanders want to change the system while Cruz, Clinton and Karisch seem pretty content on just letting it continue
Not sure about Trump's level of honesty when he says that he want to change the system...
His speeches are written to appeal to the lowest common denominator, which is something any politician has to do. This is a side of Trump most people don't really know about.
wait a sec what
how is this a side they don't know about? it's the same vague rhetoric he's always used but with fancier words
What you're saying is that this should be overshadowed by the media trying to falsely paint him as a racist or sexist?
i think you need to read that post again
his concerns are only as valid as his end goal for solving them
political corruption is a valid concern, how he intends to rectify it is dumb. this is an accurate statement:
The elites are wrong on taxes, on the size of government, on trade, on immigration, on foreign policy.
but his ideas on what the problem actually IS are completely backwards. everyone agrees there's A problem with immigration, A problem with taxes, A problem with foreign policy. but ultimately if he's got it all wrong then he's not much better than Cruz.

Hahahahah
HAHAHAHAHA
Can you imagine the US politics being like Argentine?
Chill dude, those indexes aren't that right on spot.

How on earth do you expect a proper discussion to be had when the very first post is nothing but speculative strawmen?
Also, isn't this something Sanders would agree with? Characterising whole groups of people like that is terrible in many ways. The obvious one is "most people are not like that", but what's even more problematic is that you're setting yourself and others up for very strong confirmation bias. You've created a very strong expectation that Sanders supporters will act the way you described. We can have a very civil discussion one another, Trump and Sanders supporters alike. However, as soon as ONE fuckwit starts acting like that, your expectation is fulfilled, even moreso because you predicted it in the very first post. Then because you've seen It happen, the step to generalise it to (almost) all Sanders supporters will at least appear quite small.
Seriously, be careful when you create predictions like that and then link them to a large group of people. You're setting booby traps for your own reasoning.
It is on the spot. Politically America is a shithole.
It doesnt really project to economy and everyday life as it should because America is fucking filthy rich and grand. Itd also be hard to wreck the current situation of the country even if you put monkeys in the congress, because the country is also Liberal and not everything depends on politics.
I didnt deny it is a shithole
Now, comparing that to Argentina is just bullshit. There's no fucking way it can come near what Argentina is....plainly because they don't have the poverty nor sub development required for the system we have to exist.

That's pretty fascinating, nice point.
I wish more people would get angry about these things, but people just seem to want to believe they live in a country where the government and its parties can be trusted.
I wish his speeches were this well articulated. He sounds much smarter than he usually does in this article.
Because it's ghostwitten paraphrase he then further edits.

he's completely 100% right
the elites are wrong on taxes, the size of government, on trade, on immigration, on foreign policy
but he's one of the elite though
I wish more people would get angry about these things, but people just seem to want to believe they live in a country where the government and its parties can be trusted.
i guess , it's easier to live the lie than face the truth
People don't realize that the political parties in America can literally do whatever the fuck they want. They are unaccountable, unincorporated, semiprivate organizations that only hold primary elections for the sake of winning generals. Is it corrupt? Fuck yeah, but until we 1) get rid of FPTP-voting, 2) make election day a federal holiday, and 3) add incentives (if not compulsives) to voting, the system is always going to be broken.
America is the oldest democracy in the history of the world and less than 30% of the population votes. Shit has been broken for a long time, Trump, and you aren't addressing the issues behind it, only fanning the flames like you always do.
What you're saying is that this should be overshadowed by the media trying to falsely paint him as a racist or sexist?
Falsely?
How can you not take what he has said as racist or sexist?
What you're saying is that this should be overshadowed by the media trying to falsely paint him as a racist or sexist?
One of his policies is built upon a borderline racist premise. Namely the border wall and, to a lesser extent, his "deport and ban all muslims" ideas.

Personally I think Trump is right to say the US isn't as democratic as it should be. There are loads of threats to both the US democracy, but also democracy here in Denmark - and we are seeing some of those manifest themselves.
That doesn't mean Trump isn't wrong on most other counts. Also, he has largely been helped by the way delegates are handed out so far, so it's kinda hypocritical to go on this tirade now:

I kinda wish beneath it all, he was actually a swell guy to have a beer with, with nothing of what makes him the Trump we all hate
up until a mexican walks into the bar...

People generally aren't a "swell guy to have a beer with" underneath anything, they're usually something underneath "a swell guy to have a beer with"
Not sure about Trump's level of honesty when he says that he want to change the system...
His whole campaign has been about changing the GOP and the RNC has been shitting itself for months. I think he is serious, regardless of whether these changes will be good or bad.
