According to an anonymous report BF3Blog received from inside Valve, the developer/publisher is currently in late-stage talks with EA in bringing Battlefield 3 to the Steam digital distribution service. The rumor says that Battlefield 3 would be available on Steam just in time for the game’s release on October 25. According to the report, EA and Valve are very close to reaching an agreement regarding sales of DLC content, which is the main reason Battlefield 3 is not on Steam: Valve requires that all DLC is sold through Steam, while EA would prefer to sell via its own channels. This was the cause of another EA title, Crysis 2, for being pulled from Steam earlier this year. Many PC gamers have lobbied both EA and Valve to put Battlefield 3 on Steam for a while now. It looks like it’ll finally happen soon. We’ve reached out to EA and Valve for a comment on this story.
http://bf3blog.com/2011/10/report-ea-and-valve-in-late-stage-talks-to-get-battlefield-3-to-steam/ UPDATE:The Rumour has been confirmed fake Source:http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2826551139124177097/
"an anonymous report" I'm tempted to dismiss this as bullshit[del], especially without a source[/del].
Tbf "an anonymous report from inside Valve" could be from the guy who washes the coffee mugs.
God dammit I already pre-ordered on Origin. (I doubt this is true, but if it is I'm going to be a little pissed off).

Feh this doesn't both me because I already got it for $30 on Ultimatum keys. Fuck paying $80 for it on Origin, or Steam if it is actually going to be released on it.

Sorry about that guys I forgot to add the Source Source has been added
Sure I'll have it on Steam if possible. But I kinda liked the Battlelog, jumping in and out of games has never been faster.
Sure I'll have it on Steam if possible. I'll probably get used to it over time though, it's not a bad concept really.

Usually it's the Origin that I forget to open when I try to go play BF3 Beta through the Battlelog, and that creates some technicalities. Anyway I'm just wondering what would happen to Battlelog if BF3 was on Steam? Have Steam running, open Battlelog, click Quick Match, then Steam launches BF3?

In BF3, you first have to wait through all loading times, exit the game, find a new server, get an error and refresh it, click server, boot up game once more, and then you can play. If anything, it's very overcomplicated.

I guess it's more convenient than launching it through Games Explorer or Origin as I pretty much have a web browser open all the time. If it came to Steam I'm thinking that EA might actually make a mini program to act as Battlelog, so when you launch BF3 through Steam it'd open up that little program rather than a web browser tab. Either that or when BF3 itself opens (from joining a server in Battlelog) it opens through Steam.
I couldn't care less about Battlefield 3; it ain't my game. All I care about is BioWare's RPGs getting onto Steam.

Find a new server and join it, then within a few more seconds BF3 opens and I switch to that window. Although not as fast as CS1.6, it is still pretty damn fast. I guess the time it takes for Steam to open a game will make launching BF3 after connecting to a server through Battlelog a lot longer.
i want to believe
neat
I really hope this is gonna work for both parties, and BF3 coming to steam. I don't really mind battlelog, as long as it gets fixed for the release, but having it on steam would make it much more practical for me, since i would not have to open origin each time i wanted to play BF3.
So glad I waited. But non-steam would be even better as well.
I pre-ordered retail... I kinda hope that my key will activate on steam or something when the time comes, but I'm still kinda kicking myself for doing retail at all.

It's been a lot quicker than CoD4 was for me (as my only PC FPS for comparison)

Hm.. if this does happen do you think they would switch retail to non-steam? They wouldn't sell Origin and Steam retail versions.
Sure I'll have it on Steam if possible. As of now, I don't really care. If Steam keys are gonna be sold on Intkeys, then I will buy it, otherwise I will just stick to Origin.

In other words, if I'd want to play on just one server, getting to play BF3 is significantly faster for me than TF2, regardless if I use a direct steam join link. Yes, changing the servers is a bit of a fuss, but that isn't really the point, is it? Sooner or later you find a server/s you like and then you play there, simple as that.
I preordered from Gamestop so I guess I could still take advantage of this if it happens. Honestly though, if I had to use a online distributor for this game, I would still buy it from Origin just because the two games I've downloaded from Origin went five times faster than my downloads on Steam and this is important to me.
