A jury is told Amanda Hutton drank vodka as her son wasted away but defence lawyers suggest he could have just been a "bad eater".

Hutton is accused of the manslaughter of her four-year-old son, Hamzah Khan, whose body was found in her bedroom nearly two years after he died. In closing speeches at Bradford Crown Court, prosecutors claimed Hutton had breached her fundamental duty of care to feed her child. Paul Greaney QC said: "As the child wasted away, she (Hutton) did nothing but sit in her bedroom and drink vodka." He added: "Drink was more important to her than her child - a terrible thing to say about a mother, but it's the truth." Hutton sat in the dock listening to the prosecutor's speech, dressed in black and shaking her head through much of what was said. Mr Greaney said the cause of Hamzah's death was "blindingly obvious". He said: "It was malnourishment and she caused it." The court has heard that police found Hamzah's body mummified and insect-infested in a cot in Hutton's bedroom in September 2011. The boy had died in December 2009. His malnourishment was so severe, claim prosecutors, that the four-year-old was wearing clothes for a six to nine-month-old. The 43-year-old denies manslaughter and says he died naturally. Closing the defence, barrister Stephen Meadowcroft QC described media coverage of the trial as "awful" and told jurors to carefully examine all the evidence they had heard. Mr Meadowcroft then took the jury through a series instances when professionals, family members and even gas engineers went into Hutton's home before Hamzah died. He said that in each case no-one saw anything that concerned them. "Can we be sure that his death didn't occur as a result of something else?" he asked the jury. Mr Meadowcroft called on expert evidence to suggest that Hamzah's malnourishment could have been the result of being a "bad eater". The judge will sum up the case this afternoon but a verdict in the case is not expected before tomorrow.
Link
Mr Meadowcroft called on expert evidence to suggest that Hamzah's malnourishment could have been the result of being a "bad eater".
If your child is a 'bad eater' to the point where he won't eat and you don't see a professional about it, you're still a terrible mother.
bad eating? a 4 year old will still eat if theyre fucking starving bad fucking parenting is what it is
guys, we should totally ban alcohol right?
Mr Meadowcroft then took the jury through a series of instances when professionals, family members and even gas engineers went into Hutton's home before Hamzah died.
The 43-year-old denies manslaughter and says he died naturally.
Yes that four year old died at the ripe old age of four. Good job!
I think the most disturbing thing about all off this is that she kept his rotting body in her bedroom for 2 years, wouldn't that smell fucking awful i mean you'd think someone would notice?
I feel like the defense doesn't really want her to get off. That or they're just fucking stupid.
I think the most disturbing thing about all off this is that she kept his rotting body in her bedroom for 2 years, wouldn't that smell fucking awful i mean you'd think someone would notice?
According to reports the house was full of rotting food and garbage (the smell apparently so strong it caused one of the cops investigating to vomit almost as soon as they entered the house) so chances are neighbours may have attributed the smell to that rather than a rotting body.
Jesus christ what a horrible person.
His malnourishment was so severe, claim prosecutors, that the four-year-old was wearing clothes for a six to nine-month-old.
Jesus Christ
this cunt is going straight to hell.
this cunt is going straight to hell.
I wish she'd be there right now.
this is why i wouldnt ever want to be a defense lawyer. somebody somehow has to justify this in front of a big room of people.
What an awful bitch of a person. That's a badass name though, Hamzah Khan.
this is why i wouldnt ever want to be a defense lawyer. somebody somehow has to justify this in front of a big room of people.
They don't exist to justify this, more to find either potential fuck-ups in the investigation or find ways to get her off as light as possible. But being a defense attorney probably still sucks.
Yes that four year old died at the ripe old age of four. Good job!
the natural cause was hunger [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] obviously not the mothers fault
What a fucking cunt. [sp] come here white knights, rate me dumb [/sp]
This is fucking disgusting.
What a fucking cunt. [sp] come here white knights, rate me dumb [/sp]
She is a cunt. I don't think anybody has ever come into a thread about a particularly heinous crime and and tried to convince people that the perp wasn't a huge asshole. The standard argument is about whether or not you should be allowed to eviscerate them with a thousand needles.
She left her son's body in her house for two years? Holy hell. This can't just be blamed on the bottle she has some serious issues.
England doesn't have the death penalty, do they?
