This movie was shit.
I don't disagree on any particular points.
The first wasn't bad, the second was awful. I'm not expecting much. Eli Roth isn't even directing this one.
There's a third?
Watched it. The plot is basically the same as the first two, but the characters and way situations evolve are really different. This was just awful. The ending twist was completely stupid. [sp] come on, I mean guys. Two friends that grew up togheter and suddenly one of them turns out to be a killer maniac that wants to murder the other.[/sp] Being a series of films based on violence and torture, there is hardly any in the film to satisfy a horror fan. And when there is, most of it is censored or not violent at all. Why is this? Didn't they have money to spend on corn syrup? Also, the fact of setting it in LV instead of a freaky town in Romania (or where the fuck it was) was a complete mistake, the atmosphere is completely diffrent. In a bad way that is. I'm not saying the first two were good films, but this one is way worse. The first Hostel was okay. Not a cinematic masterpiece, but quite an original splatter/horror story with a nice twist. This one was just stupid. Don't waste your time and money.
No thanks. I don't need a Hostel III.
I liked the first one
There's a Hostel 3? Makes me sick that there's a market for gore porn.
There's a Hostel 3? Makes me sick that there's a market for gore porn.
Considering that people are furries and pedophiles, gore is a logical step for sick people.
Considering that people are furries and pedophiles, gore is a logical step for sick people.
I don't equate furries with pedophiles or sadists.
tbh i thought it was the best one yet in most aspects
tbh i thought it was the best one yet in most aspects
what? how?
Hostel 1 - A group of young men are tortured to death by paying customers. Hostel 2 - A group of young women are tortured to death by paying customers. Hostel 3 - Um... A group of young hermaphrodites are tortured to death by paying customers?
The first one was great. I felt suspense.
what? how?
because the twists and unexpected deaths were good and i really didnt expect the american at the beginning to be the one who tried to kidnap the others
because the twists and unexpected deaths were good and i really didnt expect the american at the beginning to be the one who tried to kidnap the others
of course you didn't because that was the dumbest twist ever. It's as if Gandalf kills frodo all of a sudden, totally unexpected and pointless. Why should a best friend kill you off for a girl? I mean, for fuck sake that's just dumb.
But it wasn't a best friend it that did it, it was a random guy going to a hotel room because you would expect the Ukraine couple to kill the American
oh yeah, the beginning was quite good. only the beginning though
The ending of the second film is hilarious.
But it wasn't a best friend it that did it, it was a random guy going to a hotel room because you would expect the Ukraine couple to kill the American
Wasn't there two American killers in the second one?
Wasn't there two American killers in the second one?
yeah but it was the foreign people who kidnapped the americans
Just saw this. Honestly, I think it's at least a few notches better than the first two films. I've read a lot of reviews of this film, and in almost all of them, the issue is "there's hardly any gore! There's hardly any nudity!". For me, that makes this film a lot better. It doesn't rely on gore to give you chills, it frightens on a slightly more conceptual level, so you don't actually see the gore, but imagine it. Your imagination figuring out what's going on is infinitely more frightening than just being blatantly shown an eye-ball dangling on a stalk. I think this is a vast improvement on the "torture porn" formula from the first two films because of that - the feeling you get isn't of nausea, or physical repulsion, it's of suspense. It's far more effective and I much prefer it. Hostel and Hostel II are both disgraceful films, Hostel III is, in my opinion, less disgraceful because at least they had enough taste not to rely solely on explicit gore, and have more plot elements for the audience to grab onto. Yes, the plot is ridiculous and totally unbelievable, and they have been from the start of the franchise - that's what you should have been expecting. It's a totally unbelievable concept to begin with, and HIII is hardly any less 'believable' than the first films of the franchise. By all means berate the Hostel franchise, by all means criticise the torture porn genre, but seriously don't go around as if the first films had any merit to them whatsoever, and that this film is somehow "worse", or "unworthy" to be a part of the Hostel franchise. They're all awful, they all have been from the start, and this one is only slightly better because of more tasteful camerawork, use of graphic violence, and more engaging plot. To quote XKCD, "if you locked people in a box for a year with 500 still frames of Joe Biden eating a sandwich, by the end they'd be adamant that some were great and some terrible". This film is no worse than the others, you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
3rd Hostel ended like there isn't going to be Hostel 4.
3rd Hostel ended like there isn't going to be Hostel 4.
You mean they're not going to milk it further. How am i going to survive if they don't continue beating a dead horse?
