• Pastor Terry Jones Hangs 'Dummy' of Pres. Obama in Noose
In Gainesville, Florida, Pastor Terry Jones hung a dummy of President Obama in effegy as way to show how the President is supposedly "killing the country" (video below). Jones last made headlines by threatening to burn a copy of the Koran, the holy book of the Islamic faith. Jones claims to have received death threats and has been contacted twice by the Secret Service because of the hanging display at his church, the Dove World Outreach Center. In an interview with the The Pulp, Jones said the hanging display was not racist, but rather "a symbolic action saying we do not, of course, want him reelected. It is death, of course, not to him. To his political career." "We are not looking at him as a black man. He is not black; he is not white; he is the president of the United States. And the noose, of course, was to represent the death of his presidency and political career. Not at all to represent his race... His race has absolutely nothing to do with it." Jones also told The Pulp that it was "definitely very possible" that he would be running for president himself: "We definitely do have a lot of support, but... people think these type of methods are going a little bit too far, a little bit too intense. We chose those methods because they are the methods that we thought about, and we really felt a couple of these issues are so intense and so important that sometimes we do need a little bit of a shaking." It'll be the spectacle of the year.
Evangelicals are so out of touch

"Not at all to represent his race... His race has absolutely nothing to do with it." Yea, symbolically lynching a black man totally has nothing to do with race. This guy is either very racist, or INCREDIBLY stupid to think that nobody would draw a parallel to lynching.
What a load of bs, it obviously does have something to do with it.
You are correct. Hanging a black man is on a whole different level from hanging a white man: hanging a mock Obama is worse than a mock Bush, because he is black. For the same set of reasons, to spraypaint a swastika on the door of your average Joe is petty vandalism. To spraypaint it on a Jew's door is a hate crime. EDIT: No really I believe this. I don't intend any sarcasm in this post.
Fucking hickish assholes like him are what makes this country look bad. Europeans and the rest of the worldies out there, I swear to you if you even come to this country, I will dedicate myself to showing you were are not all like this guy. at all. This guy has also openly said he's had issues with blacks in the past.

Again, if it's not racially motivated, then it is amazingly stupid.

Just because African Americans used to be hanged a long time ago (even though I'm quite sure quite a bit of Caucasians were hanged too, hanging was hardly an African American exclusive) doesn't mean it has to be racially motivated. You know, getting a rope and hanging a puppet is a lot easier than getting a gas chamber or shooting it. Also to be honest if the first thing someone sees in this "OMG white man hanging black man, RACIST and 10000x as bad as a normal hanging", something is wrong (the problem isn't a white man hanging a black man, it's a person hanging another human). If the first thing you think of when you read something like "X hangs a dummy of Obama" is racism and white supremacists, you're quite prejudiced yourself. That doesn't mean this guy isn't racist, just that should stop regarding a crime where the victim and offender are of different races as something for some reason much worse than if they were the same race.

That's why I added that bit in there: "You are correct." It was meant to be taken literally. No sarcasm. I am sorry if some of you got that.
Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if he swapped Uncle Sam and Obama?
Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if he swapped Uncle Sam and Obama?
That would require he hold a continuous stream of thought for more than 15 seconds.

It still happens today, just not as often/publicized Suppose he isn't a racist, then he would have the common sense to think "boy, the president is black, I shouldn't hang a effigy of him from a tree because that would be a racist gesture" Just because I'm not racist doesn't mean If i called a black person a nigger it would be not racist.
probably trying to trick shabab into getting those camels
Wait, so if hanging Obama symbolizes killing America, doesn't that mean Obama IS America? Checkmate
Why do I get the feeling this guy is going to be seeing a visit from Secret Service pretty soon?
Wait, so if hanging Obama symbolizes killing America, doesn't that mean Obama IS America? Checkmate
Obama Is America (And So Can You!)
Riiight. That was a very Christian act. If there's anything to get riled up about, it's how the American Christians all make themselves and the religion seem like more of a fucking joke than i already is by itself. Do they REALLY have the right to vote? Really!? An egocentric isolationalist 12-yearold bitching in Gmod and MW2 would vote more responsibly than such people... Give THEM voting rights! Fun Fact: Being a pastor doesn't make everything you do a Christian act by default. [editline]14th June 2012[/editline] Christ. Some Americans just have no idea about the world outside their borders or any kind of human history pre- "GAWD BLESS WASHINGTON" era.

'MERICUH! I kid, but seriously? He thinks he can get away with saying it doesn't have to do with him being black? I could have sworn this guy left Gainesville to take himself and his followers to Tampa or somewhere else a while ago. He probably changed his mind when he realized that his congregation of 50 people couldn't pay for the trip.
I want to make an effigy of this "pastor" and nail him to a cross. Then burn the whole thing. the problem is I'd have to find somewhere quiet to do it, otherwise people might see the burning cross in public and think "there's racism afoot here".
I'm P sure this counts as a threat on the president's life Wonder how long till he gets a friendly visit from the FBI
do people like this ever think before they do anything? maybe he should have worn a KKK robe and still tried to claim he's not a racist.
I'm P sure this counts as a threat on the president's life Wonder how long till he gets a friendly visit from the FBI
He won't. Religious freedom lets you do anything in America as long as you subscribe to Baby-Jesus. They'll make or find some law to exploit so that it's legal for christians to kill presidents. Much like it's ok for them to piss on graves and harass funerals, abuse their own kids and blame everyone else for being walking satans. I mean, what do they NOT have a Get-out-of-jail-free-card on?
What is it with old people and being crazy racists.
