Facepunch Avatar Rules Are Too Lenient (and it's being dealt with- page 4) - General

I would bring this up in Ask Us About The Forums if there was still one but unfortunately it was removed so forum questions/concerns like these can get [URL="http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250036&p=39733157&viewfull=1#post39733157"]their own thread[/URL]. There are no written avatars rules but it is generally known that nsfw shit isn't really allowed for an avatar. The closest thing to it is under the "Nudity and Sex" header in the [URL="http://facepunch.com/fp_rules.php"]FP Rules[/URL] page. Me and quite a few other people are annoyed at some of the shit we see for avatars like I'm not talking about gifs of women shaking their tits in a sportsbra, I'm talking about 10 year old anime girls obviously being fucked or some dog fursona cumming everywhere. The fact that shit like that is being used for avatars tells me that it's safe for work. Personally I don't think the average co-worker or boss would appreciate seeing pokemon getting very visible boners on my screen or some catgirl getting fucked up the ass. Yeah I can easily add the user to my ignore list or adblock the avatar, which is what I have been doing, but that doesn't stop more people from changing their avatar to their sexual fantasies. Hell I could just disable avatars completely in the control panel but that's a bullshit way to deal with a problem. I would provide visual examples of the avatars but I don't really want people to target these specific users, I just want a discussion on this.

Well there used to be some WIP plugin where one dude maintained a list of people with shit avatars and a plugin hid them when the page loaded. I was on that list.

I'd suggest, instead of censoring everyone else based on personal bias, downloading that blacklist of avatars that was being worked on a few months ago. Your only defense against using adblock is "people are gonna change their avatars in the future maybe!!!"?

Should have NSFW tags for avatars if it bothers people quite a lot. Nah, but I don't really see any problems with a 160x80 box on the side of my screen that doesn't actually show any genitalia.

I usually cannot browse with anyone else in the room because I'm worried I'll scroll past some gross loli shit or something, and I only have a few friends who actually understand what avatars are and even less who find that kind of thing acceptable

What's keeping you from turning avatars off at work, but then turning them on again while at home? This is such a non-issue. Either ignore the few internet pictures you don't like, block the ones you don't like, or turn them off completely.
