At least if you count caring in terms of tweets. The mega-star's baby announcement set a record, according to Twitter. "Last night at 10:35pm ET, Beyonce's big MTV #VMA moment gave Twitter a record bump: 8,868 Tweets per second." That's a lot of Tweets, and it's even more Tweets per second than during the high-peak event of Osama bin Laden's death, explains TechCrunch's Leena Rao. "In terms of past record events, Bin Laden’s death drew a significant peak in Tweets Per Second with 5,106 TPS."
The people of Twitter are the most simple minded of people.. Who gives a shit if she has a baby? Cool Beyonce you are pregnant, something that happens every god damn day.
I think it has something to do with the fact that killing Osama did almost nothing for bringing us closer to leaving Afghanistan.
It's Destiny's child.
Not surprised.
Welcome to pop culture, people are going to care about famous people more then actual global affairs.
what has the world come to. *sigh*
Beyonce had a baby?
Twitter: giving you a million reasons to hate people every day!
Her performance was insane at the vma's last night, seriously she brought down the house. And probably about the coolest way to announce you're pregnant.
I'm pretty sure America likes celebrities more than politicians or anything related to politics "I mean look at those abs on Brad Pitt! Does Osama have abs? Pfft, no." [editline]1[/editline] Shit, 6,000 posts I post too much
The vast majority of twitter users are teens. Go figure.

How did I forget the infamous "Baby disarms North Korea" incident
bin ladens death didnt really do anything though tbh
Who the hell is Beyonce.
Who the hell is Beyonce.
Uhhhh
bin ladens death didnt really do anything though tbh
yeah it did it reminded everyone who was paying attention (read: no one) that the us government is willing to engage in extrajudicial execution
bin ladens death didnt really do anything though tbh
Neither did Beyonce's baby :crossarms:
From another perspective, at least we're more willing to celebrate life than death. Just sayin'.
Who's death?
Boncy who
bin ladens death didnt really do anything though tbh
And you're saying Beyonce's baby will do anything :v:
Today we learn that we have just as many morons here on Facepunch that find the Baby to have some sort of significance over Bin Laden's death. Although the rest of you are cool.
um jay-z and beyonce having a child is probably the most exciting news ever that kid's gonna be so sexy and talented that it probably will end up ending wars
What do you expect it is a site for letting other people know what you are doing at a specific moment. Besides some people are not interested in global affairs. That is just twitter after all, people do other things other than twitter as well.
also, bin laden's death was at a late time of night for most people in the US, so there'd be less people seeing it and commenting on it at once than they would with a scheduled event like the vmas [editline]29th August 2011[/editline] but seriously Jay-Z and Beyonce are having a baby
Might have something to do with the fact that the war has been going on so long, and how it would appear we've made nearly no progress that it's fucking boring now. Osama is dead, great, so? He was sitting in his house. Even I care more about Beyonce's baby than Osama.
