Hello tech folks. Got a software problem for you. Recently, I decided I want to play CoD4 on the PC again because it has dedicated servers. My brother moved along with the cd (amg the cd moved?) but he gave me the key. I had to download an installer for the game, but when I enter my valid key code on the installation it says it's invalid.
I reformatted my HD a while ago so there is no registration of the game. And I never registered the key. And I don't think that the key was created in a keygen used by some douche bag. Any help would be awesome, though I don't expect much.
If I install with a different key, but use my other key for multiplayer, could that work even though it says my key is invalid for the installation?
I know nothing about Cod4 but I don't think you need a key to play MP.
COD4 have the shittiest authentication to be honest. There is not key activation. As long as your key is not being used at the moment (or by someone else recently), and was legitimately generated by IW, you can play online.
