Well, that's good.. I guess?
Why, I liked it.
This should be toggable. I'm glad they saw the light though and didn't make the same mistake as Hitman
Kinda welcoming it, kinda worried about them still fiddling with core mechanics this late. Then again, it fits what we know about this game's development hell. I wish they'd just focus and maybe delay the game for a couple months more to get everything right, but considering how long it's already been in development and how Squeenix probably really wants to make money right now, I doubt they'll have that kinda luxury. Still, no more XP rewards for murdering when you're supposed to be a thief. Neat! I do wonder how far the loot gold will carry you equipment-wise. Thief 3 was kinda open, so money and items transfered between missions and mid-late game you could have a million arrows to bruteforce yourself through any situation. In the earlier mission-based Thief games, you could only spend the money from last mission and your inventory reset every mission. With hoarding removed you always had a reason to loot, always wanted to spend all your money and didn't need to hold back on using your gear. Since you always got some minimum equipment regardless you also couldn't "play yourself into a corner".
1 bad thing fixed, a dozen or two more need fixing.
1 bad thing fixed, a dozen or two more need fixing.
They need to add jumping back in, make rope arrows usable whenever you want, and make the guards call you a taffer rather than actually curse.
They need to add jumping back in, make rope arrows usable whenever you want, and make the guards call you a taffer rather than actually curse.
To be fair, rope arrows were restricted pretty heavily by surface in Thief 2 and all. But I miss the taffing too, absurd as it was.

Instead they should re-implement vine arrows so that they can allow players to shoot on metal-grating as well when those are available to them.

I remember making what was basically a bridge of rope arrows from the ceiling at the beginning of "Down in the Bonehoard" something you would obviously never be able to do in this.
