I have a Puffer2-UL8E motherboard and I'm thinking about upgrading to a Intel Core 2 Duo. Will it be able to support it or do I have to get a new motherboard?
Yeah, you should be able to get a LGA775 wolfdale or something like that. [editline]12:36AM[/editline] Good one for UK: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130483 [editline]12:37AM[/editline] A decent CPU on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115054 [editline]12:38AM[/editline] Btw, newegg one is much better.
Wow why the fuck would you recommend the E8600? [editline]07:42PM[/editline] Wow you're an idiot stop posting here seriously (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - compwhizii))
E8500 if you can afford it and overclock it..
Because one of my pc's has an 8600 and I like it? But better to get an 8500.
Because one of my pc's has an 8600 and I like it?
But it's almost double the price of the e8500, and you can simply overclock the e8500 by 16mhz
Oops, didn't notice the price. Get an 8500 ;)
More like get an E8400.
tip: when helping someone, it's good to have more of an idea than them. E8400 over 500 and 600. [editline]12:49AM[/editline] ninja'd.
I shouldn't have posted, what with me being an AMD person and all.
pfft, don't get a e8600, get a e8400. / You cannot tell if a e8600 would be a better ocer than a e8400 at all.
Because one of my pc's has an 8600 and I like it? But better to get an 8500.
there is more to CPU compatibility than socket, you need to research the chipsets and E8x00 will not work in his mobo [editline]09:13PM[/editline] Why are you all telling him to get a cpu his mobo won't suppport?!?!
guys check the mobo chipset i915 it only supports Pentium 4's
Damn that sucks. Is a motherboard hard to install?
no if your ram is DDr2 533 and you get a cheap mobo with a G31 chipset you can install a E1280
Is this mobo alright?
Yes. What's your budget? If you're buying in that power range, you're better off getting a Phenom II.
I'm not going to upgrade my computer until Christmas so I don't have a budget yet.
