Turning to one young woman wearing a veil she asks, "Have you been cut?" "Yes," the woman answers, holding up the cloth she is sewing. Kaba tries again. "No, not the cloth – Down there!" The veiled woman shakes her head and turns back to her fabric. Getting women to admit they've been circumcised is not easy. But a new medical facility in the German capital seeks to help victims of female genital mutilation, also known as female genital cutting, by offering what its founders call the most comprehensive treatment available in Europe. Doctors there say the goal of the Desert Flower Center is to help women become whole again by ridding them of the physical and psychological pain resulting from forced circumcision. They've turned to immigrant groups and women's organizations like Mama Afrika to find patients, who receive the care for free through German health insurance and donations.
and male circumcision is a-ok
and male circumcision is a-ok
and here we go
and male circumcision is a-ok
I don't think they're really comparable. Male circumcision isn't mutilation.
I don't think they're really comparable. Male circumcision isn't mutilation.
by defenition it is
I don't think they're really comparable. Male circumcision isn't mutilation.
It is, since the child is never asked. But it is nowhere near as bad as female circumcision.
Proponents of the practice – most of whom are women – argue that cutting girls in this manner enshrines their purity and virtue.
And I argue that you are fucked in the head
I don't think they're really comparable. Male circumcision isn't mutilation.
At the most basic principle, you're cutting off parts of peoples genitals, that shouldn't be okay in some cases and not in others for essentially the same reason, culture or purpose.
To those saying female mutilation isn't worse than male, it is. They cut off the clitoris. That's like cutting off the head of the penis.
To those saying female mutilation isn't worse than male, it is. They cut off the clitoris. That's like cutting off the head of the penis.
Depends on the kind of mutilation (I think there's four ways they do female circumcision), but yeah,in any case it's worse than male.
I don't think they're really comparable. Male circumcision isn't mutilation.
It's also done for medical reasons.
It's also done for medical reasons.
It isn't though. It's just an outdated practice, there are plenty of disadvantages and it's only an advantage to people who don't bathe.
and male circumcision is a-ok

Jenny says she was 19 at the time she was cut, making her older than all of her friends who had the procedure done.
male circumcision is often done when the boy is like new born or shortly thereafter, not by the time they are sexually active......
The World Health Organization says about are living with medical issues like incontinence or abnormal growths called fistulas, as well as psychological consequences of the procedure.
also male circumcision doesn't really negatively affect anything health wise, whereas this really can cause serious medical problems
It's also done for medical reasons.
this. in the case of extreme phimosis or similar problems, circumcisions have to be performed for health reasons. however, female genital mutilation is not equivalent to male circumcision - yes, both are performed unnecessarily (except in the case i stated earlier for male circumcision) but female genital mutilation is far more damaging and cannot be repaired like a male circumcision can be.
by defenition it is
"to inflict a serious, disfiguring violent act upon someone" no it isn't, i wish you fucking people would stop refer to it as "mutilation" because you sound like a huge pretentious dick when you do it
and male circumcision is a-ok
why do i even expect sympathy towards women from this forum
within half a post people have made this about dudes again astounding
"to inflict a serious, disfiguring violent act upon someone" no it isn't, i wish you fucking people would stop refer to it as "mutilation" because you sound like a huge pretentious dick when you do it
not to mention it can really make a guy feel good about himself, being described that way. but that's not what this is about. i'm really impressed by germany's initiative in dealing with such a sensitive and personal issue. to do it all at no cost to the victims is even better. i don't physically understand how they can do anything about it, but i feel like we could learn a thing or two here.
why do i even expect sympathy towards women from this forum
Are you fucking serious?
why do i even expect sympathy towards women from this forum
but my issues are more important and pressing than theirs! i have to draw attention to my issues because of how oppressed i am as a man!!!
and male circumcision is a-ok
omg im so glad you brought this up, people forget about men's rights with all this talk about things for women !! so much misandry in the world today, so sad [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline] but seriously most people in europe look down on circumcision
and male circumcision is a-ok
female circumcision removes the possibility to experience sexual pleasure, period. Fuck you several ways for even comparing them. [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline]
To those saying female mutilation isn't worse than male, it is. They cut off the clitoris. thread about a very nice clinic willing to help women who have been circumcised turns into a thread about a buncha guys arguing about male circumcision c'mon, really?
all circumcision is awful because its unwarranted mutilation on the basis of tradition without the consent of the one being cut up male mutilation can have practical benefits, although the actual health benefits are negligible, as are the negative affects of the actual circumcision; this doesn't justify the actual process, but in some rare cases, circumcision may be necessary due to infections or serious phimosis in which the foreskin cannot be pulled over the head of the penis however, female circumcision has no practical benefit, and does not help the victim in any way; the practice is degrading, and the purpose of it is to deny females sexual enjoyment through clitoral stimulation, as it is believed the lack of sexual enjoyment will force the woman to stay "pure" and "chaste." the entire practice is also incredibly painful, and often, can and will lead to infection and nasty side-effects, depending on how the ritual is performed; the circumcision of female genitals permanently removes major organs of the vagina, whereas male circumcision simply removes skin both are bad, if only because they are often done to non-consenting individuals, but female circumcision is by far worse; male circumcision may result in minor stimulation removal, but the effect is often negligible, and even then, can be repaired or replaced later in life. [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline] on-topic, its good these victims are receiving some psychological and medical treatment not much can be done for them to bring back the same level of sexual stimulation they could have received prior to the circumcision, but anything is better than letting them live that depressing life, both mentally, and physically [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline]
It isn't though. It's just an outdated practice, there are plenty of disadvantages and it's only an advantage to people who don't bathe.
phimosis is a legitimate reason to have the foreskin removed, as you can be unable to pull the foreskin over the head this in and of itself can also lead to infections that would require a circumcision as well
Anyone else find the mental image of a German chick running a sewing class where she routinely questions the students about their junk in front of the entire class a little creepy?
The sewing class is just a rehabilitation facade; usually when immigrants come to another country in need, they sign up for a program that puts them in classes so they can connect to others, become comfortable in their new country, learn the language, gain a skill, and get any emotional and psychological help they need from counselors and teachers. Giving victims an productive outlet helps them acclimate to their new home, and most of the time, if they are immigrants from abusive situations, they will almost always get therapy as well. This is what this clinic does; it's not just a health clinic, it's a psychological and mental facility to help these victims connect with others, face their pasts, and overcome the situations that led to their forced circumcision and move to the clinic/country.
oh man, love how it's called genital mutilation when the labia are litearally directly comparable to the foreskin.
removal of the clitoris would be more comparable to removing the head of the penis.
within half a post people have made this about dudes again astounding
Like you don't make threads about men about feminism every time
Like you don't make threads about men about feminism every time
there's a difference between the intersectionality of feminism and how MRA's and similar folks shove their talk of ~men's problems~ everywhere (actually, a lot of problems men face can and will be solved if feminism is allowed to progress to completion)
