Budget = $1000 - 1500 Country = United States of America hello, i have come here for help on buying parts for a computer. i'm hoping to buy all the parts for a computer and build it from scratch by the time christmas starts. i would like to hear some builds around this budget amount that could get me a very up-to-date computer for gaming. my computer atm can't play most of the games i would like to (TF2, L4D2, Dragon Age: Origins...) CURRENT COMP SPECS: http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/8329/currentv.png CPU (In-Depth): http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/1851/currentcpu.png long story short: I would like some suggested builds under the budget... if this is against the rules then please delete.
I'll throw something together real quick. (Also: I have that exact computer running as a server :buddy: I got it for 30bux from a used electronics store about a month ago)
I'll throw something together real quick. (Also: I have that exact computer running as a server :buddy: I got it for 30bux from a used electronics store about a month ago)
thank you, friend :downs: and yea, my comp is pretty bad isn't it?
Actually, it isn't that bad at all. When I first got it, it had a pirated CS 1.6 on it (:v:). I played it for a few minutes at 80 fps on de_dust2, 1280x1024. I also played Unreal Tournament '99 and Quake 3 Arena maxed out on it. I only got it for 30bux because it had no hard drive or optical drive, which of course I have a ton laying around. I threw a 300 GB HDD and a DVD burner in it, and from then on it was all :science: Now this, this is a true beast. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12684172 You can upgrade to a SATA III drive when they're less ridiculously expensive, and it has USB 3.0 ports, instead of the much slower USB 2.0 ports. [editline]02:38AM[/editline] btw that rig will max out literally any game you can throw at it. Expect even the most hardcore games like Crysis and GTA4 at highest settings.

I'll check the build with my IST teacher and my parents and take suggestions from them as well. i'll post here or PM you if I edit some parts around due to price restraints etc or maybe even if i buy it. Thanks again! Merry christmas! (yea,i know that sounds corny)
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160&cm_re=haf_932-_-11-119-160-_-Product Dimensions(L x W x H) - 22.70" x 9.00" x 21.50" = HAF 932 Dimensions(L x W x H) - 24.80" x 9.57" x 22.83" = ATCS 840 Not too big of a difference in size. The extra 2~ inches on each side of the ATCS 840 just might come in handy for the long size of the 5870. The HAF 932 has free shipping, though. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'd assume that heavier/bigger shipments would cost a lot.

There's only and inch difference in each direction.

It's a good time to get larger cases. That and the HAF 932 is fucking ugly.

to be honest, i don't really care what my computer case looks like since i'm the only one that will be looking at it aside from a few people and i doubt they could give two shits. besides, if it's cheaper and the parts fit in it im all up for it. anything to trim the cost down a couple pegs... so i'll give that case a looksie... if you guys have any other ideas for parts that are just as or almost as efficient as the ones ButtsexV2 made for saving money, then please do.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197&cm_re=HAF_922-_-11-119-197-_-Product It's $50 cheaper than the HAF 932 and it's just one inch smaller in each direction, so no big loss at all.
Happy 1,000th post! (i think) alrighty, ill also see about getting a smaller hard drive, i have a console too so im not gonna be filling this thing with movies and every game imaginable.

This may be offtopic but... IS that a program you used to use for the PC Specs? Because I would like to have it.
This may be offtopic but... IS that a program you used to use for the PC Specs? Because I would like to have it.
I think it's speccy. I know the same company made CCleaner, and the interface looks really similar, so that's what I figure it is.

Would this build be able to handle the graphics? I can understand all the parts, but when it comes to graphics cards I get confused and just see a big name... because even if this build may not be the most up to date, i can still upgrade if i really need to. UPDATE: ButtsexV2, the graphics card in your build just went out of stock... any other suggestions please?

You aren't going to be able to see any difference for at least the next three years.
Alright, I combined both of your lists and created something myself... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136167 - DVD Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 - Hard drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127471 - GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 - Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231275 - RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.303826 - CPU + MOBO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754 - OS (Maybe...see below) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236069 - Monitor If a friend has a Windows 7 disc can it be used for your COMP as well? btw, would I be able to get the cheaper 550W power supply or would it not work well with this build?
really not that bad but he needs an OS
and a hard drive.
and a hard drive.
It comes with a 1.5 terabyte hard drive, you know the thing that looks like a hunk of metal in the picture with a disk inside of it?
It comes with a 1.5 terabyte hard drive, you know the thing that looks like a hunk of metal in the picture with a disk inside of it?
Holy crap  did not see that.
Holy crap  did not see that.
No problem, changed your box to a face.
No problem, changed your box to a face.
Thanks and the case is bitchin.
I heard good things about that case, but I hate the shitty , "phenom" on the front. One guy took it off and replaced it with a cutout ATI from a box he had, lulz. Actually, the only thing I do like is the case, and it kinda looks shitty in my opinion.

Personally I still prefer the first build, but who knows which one is better in the end.
