EDIT Yes happened. Prepare to be aborted, conscripted, euthanized AND have your minimum wage slashed. :downs: Bonus poster for those in the know.
who cares. Shit country shit people. You're shit too
Hey wait a minute, the Irish are awesome :buddy:
who cares. Shit country shit people. You're shit too
A wonderful snipe. On topic, what does this treaty do exactly, let the EU take a dump on Ireland or something?
why was moo banned?
For being a retard.
Vote yes on this, then the Pirate Party in Sweden will get two MEPs.
Hey wait a minute, the Irish are awesome :buddy:
I dunno, I'm Irish myself and I don't look too kindly on us as a nation.
For being a retard.
Why do you think? It has the reason written there in bright red.
The Treaty signed by the Heads of State or Government of the 27 Member States in Lisbon on 13 December 2007 will provide the EU with modern institutions and optimised working methods to tackle both efficiently and effectively today's challenges in today's world. In a rapidly changing world, Europeans look to the EU to address issues such as globalisation, climatic and demographic changes, security and energy. The Treaty of Lisbon will reinforce democracy in the EU and its capacity to promote the interests of its citizens on a day-to-day basis.
:buddy:
On topic, what does this treaty do exactly, let the EU take a dump on Ireland or something?
So some seem to think.
"wherrs mye potat-O?" "Tats a ghood Guinness!" haha the irish are awesome Though i now see all of them as leprechauns :frown:
Basically the issue of the Lisbon treaty is some are not happy with the extra powers it grants the EU, seeing it as a move towards a European super-state
I wonder why the fuck Ireland was the only country that deemed the law so important that it needs to be voted upon. And I'd vote no if I could.
I wonder why the fuck Ireland was the only country that deemed the law so important that it needs to be voted upon. And I'd vote no if I could.
To be technical, you vote on emphasis on certain aspects of the law when you vote people in/out of government here in AU, not sure about you guys. I'd vote 'No' too, based on what I've read I'll be surprised if this goes ahead. [editline]09:51PM[/editline] Wait what, has it already happened? :downs: Yep, January 1st
To be technical, you vote on emphasis on certain aspects of the law when you vote people in/out of government here in AU, not sure about you guys. Besides, a honest politicians don't exist.
I wonder why the fuck Ireland was the only country that deemed the law so important that it needs to be voted upon. And I'd vote no if I could.
Because it would change our constitution, which requires a referendum.
I can't know what a person thinks about laws like this after 2 years in office. Besides, a honest politicians don't exist.
Point taken. :buddy: For the sake of my curiosity, how to do the emoticon that looks a bit like :V ?
Because it would change our constitution, which requires a referendum.
Well it didn't stop any other country. Constitution is rather a joke in other EU countries, here we pass laws and then change the constitution to apply.
I voted yes on this this morning. The no camp ( largely anarchist, socialist and anti war movements ) made a bunch of posters with ireland as a giant aircraft carrier, or covered in tanks, which I think is totaly fucking awesome. I really want to live on a giant fucking aircraft , covered with fucking tanks. Of course nobody will be driving the tanks because the no camp also insist that everyone everywhere will be unemployed while living under a evil capatilist super state. But there you go.
living under a evil capatilist super state. But there you go.
So you want the minimum wages to drop to the EU average?
So you want the minimum wages to drop to the EU average?
1: Yes the minimum wage needs to fall like a fucking stone if we want to get foreign investment back into the country. Otherwise we will be the last country out of the recession, because every eastern european state is doing the same skilled work for an eighth the price. 2:It's going to stay at €8.50 an hour, that's the law. Lisbon has got ridiculously little to do with minimum wage. Taking lisbon as meaning a minimum wage decrease is like taking the US constitution as meaning every american should be issued with a blowhorn and an assault rifle.
Agreeing with Killoch0 again here, minimum wage in this country is already ridiculously high, people need to shut the fuck up about it.
Basically the issue of the Lisbon treaty is some are not happy with the extra powers it grants the EU, seeing it as a move towards a European super-state
Kinda like USA with all it's states.
Kinda like USA with all it's states.
Only the 'states' of the European Union have been independent countries for time measurable in millenia
We're pretty much the scabbiest country in Europe already, bar maybe Spain, and it sickens me to see the country being so ungrateful.
"wherrs mye potat-O?" Also I just got back from voting, with a NO vote. We had a debate yesterday in college with two speakers from each side. The speaker from the YES side was part of the labor party. And to be honest he didn't seem to sure of what he was saying. But the guy from the NO side was part of the People before profit, and he did pretty well in getting his points across. But I said no the last time and nothing has changed my opinion this time!
But I said no the last time and nothing has changed my opinion this time!
What about next time? What will you vote then?
2) EU laws are above the constitution.
Not the Irish constitution apparently.
Only the 'states' of the European Union have been independent countries for time measurable in millenia
Not for long, if certain people gets it the way they want it.
