• Uninstalling Vista From a Dual Boot system.

Quite a while ago i wanted to try windows 7, this was pre release, so i didn't want to completely give up vista. I partitioned my harddrive into two, one with 250 GB for Vista, the other 30 gb for w7 (i didn't think i'd need a lot of space because i didn't know what to expect from 7). So i partitioned my drive, installed 7, and fell in love. Now that it was released awhile back i've been wanting to upgrade, thing is: I got not space. I want to remove Vista from the larger partition, then merge the two into one, then, if possible just upgrade my rc to full. If not, i'll just install a new one completely. However, vista is like gum ground into my shoe, i can't get rid of the fucking thing. I've tried a few methods, none i guess i performed right. I was able to remove vista as a boot option though. But vista is still on my machine. Truth be told the methods probably have been unsuccessful for me because i've been acting a tad reckless. All the file i care about are on an external drive so if i had to completely restore nothing would really be lost. So can anyone help me get rid of the damned OS?
You can't upgrade from the RC to the full release, so you'll need to format anyway. What I would recommend is just putting in the Windows 7 disc, then deleting all the partitions from the drive during the install, and then install onto the empty drive that you will then have.
If it looks like this on partition manager thingy |vista|windows7| (vista then windows 7) you can't merge the two without a complete reformat.

Heres a good article to help you do it. http://tech.icrontic.com/articles/upgrade-the-windows-7-rc-to-retail/ It basically involves changing a variable in a ini file to allow upgrading from the beta and RC version of win 7. Microsoft explained how to do this, probably to demonstrate to the tech community how nice they are. EDIT: It still would be much better and easier just to do a clean format, which I highly reccomend, upgrading is a pain, and can cause many problems with broken installs, etc.
