Christmas has come around again and now have pretty much everything I could possibly want..So what do you get somebody who has everything? Better versions of the stuff he already has. So I ask, Me not having too much knowledge of the latest mobiles right now, what would be a good choice this Christmas? I'm not really interested in a smart phone or I-anything i just want a mobile with around a 3mp camera + and between (ish) £50-£150. Personal experience is a plus and I have been with Sony for a while and am quite happy with them but if its a must I'm willing to switch. My current mobile is the amazing K750i so an improvement is quite desperately needed! :frown:
Any Android phone, or maybe an iPhone.
If you want to hack an iphone get an iphone otherwise android
I would go with Android, just because of the "openness".
Get a Nokia n900
Nokia 3310 <3
congratulations to the first four replies. Also OP, do you mean £50-£150 on PAYG or that much for a handset and contract or whatever? My mum has an LG Cookie on PAYG which is alright. Interface is kinda clunky, but for the price and features you get it's p good.

I do like the LG cookie actually a few of my friends have it but i don't really like the interface really either. I also find the touchscreen somewhat annoying and hard to use.
If you're not getting a smartphone, theres no point to having a good phone. Mobile Internet is a joke, ipods are there for the music and phone cameras are shit. If you don't want a smartphone, there's no point in upgrading as talk and text are the only good features of a dumbphone. OP, I would strongly recommend a smartphone of some sort.
The LG Viewty is rather cheap and lots of fun. It's a little big, and the screen's not very sensitive (touchscreen), but it's a decent phone. Also it can record in 120 fps, which is endless fun. :excited:
So it's a touchscreen, the the screen isn't very sensitive to touch? Fail
Either Android or Symbian. I recently bought a Nokia 5800 and I love it so far, the only problem I'm having is connecting to my school's wireless Internet because it uses EAP authentication and I need a certificate or something the school says they don't have/need. It's pretty cheap also and comes with an 8GB memory card.
So it's a touchscreen, the the screen isn't very sensitive to touch? Fail
Compared to my htc touch diamond, it's rubbish cause you have to put a minor preasure on the screen, where as the touch diamond reacts to the wind touching the screen.
Yeah after looking i have decided to get a smartphone @Tools Yeah i do like the look of the viewty, Thanks for the suggestion @DarkSpirit05er That Nokia looks pretty sweet but is a slight out of my price range :frown:
Well I recommend not going anywhere near a LG Cookie. I've had one for the last year, and seriously it annoys me. it crashes every now and then when I'm doing things. The headphones lose their quality quickly. and the camera is just totally shit in all conditions. The viewty is definately the way to go!
Well I recommend not going anywhere near a LG Cookie.....=!
Thanks! ill keep that in mind. I'm now stuck in between http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/aw1/pay-as-you-go/orange/lg-gw520/ or an http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/aw1/pay-as-you-go/three/lg-ku990-viewty-black/ Opinions?
Well you need to take into account several things. The GW520, is a social networking phone. It's designed for people who use facebook so they can update things with ease and such. Do you use Facebook? The LG Viewty is designed for general phone purposes, ( texting/calling ) gaming, video recording ( the camera is a big strong point on the phone ) Some example shots taken with the Viewty ( I would show some shots from the gw520, but I can't find any ) [img_thumb]http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/8474/3309380865a7ef58c95eo.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/6981/331726504012e62a295bo.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/6024/33847155327698884e37b.jpg[/img_thumb]
I would recommend getting any mobile that isn't touch screen. Get one with the Symbian operating system. Heck, my Nokia N81 can run S/NES, GB/A roms.
I'm quite sick of this touchscreen fad. Quite ridiculous. I hate ugly fingerprints on my screen.
But... keyboard controls on a phone are awful!
For the love of God don't get the Viewty, this isn't the most reliable poll but I know 3 people who have Viewtys and all 3 regret buying it. When I've used them, the touch screen doesn't always seem to react to you touching it, the battery's tempremental, it randomly drains itself for no apparent reason and when you connect it to your computer, it is sloooooooooooooooow.
If you're not a fan of touch screen phones then I'd recommend the Nokia N86 8mp http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n86_8mp-review-366.php But if you're set on deciding between those two LG phones then don't get the viewty. Most LG phones my friends or classmates have owned got broken, so I can't recommend an LG at all. Although that first one you posted is a successor to a phone that wasn't so bad (but also got messed up).
Ok well since I do think I would use the keyboard on the 520 I've decided to go with that and will definitely stay away from the Viewty because of the many bad experiences i have now heard of. The Nokia N86 seems like a half decent phone but I went as far as finding somebody I know who has the LG 520 and trying it out myself and I did like the look of it. Thanks for your help guys!
Currently bough a Genio Touch (Samsung). It's really nice IMO and runs on the same software as the iPhone (be it a cutdown, open source version). It's a snip for the price of £70 and bloody worth it.
Umm, no? It runs on Samsung's own TouchWiz OS and is in no way related to the iPhone.
Umm, no? It runs on Samsung's own TouchWiz OS and is in no way related to the iPhone.
It has a .PDF on it which confirms that Samsung borrowed parts from the iPhones OS.
I recommend the Sony Ericsson C902 for around £100 at the moment if you want something cheaper It has a 5 Megapixel camera with a flash (LED though) and all the regular features you get with a phone these days (bluetooth, speaker, 3G internet, music)
Not a smart phone but it has a full querty keyboard: Samung B3210 Genio http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_payg_details.asp?ItemKey=288244
iPhone or a droid.
try out the Droid or IPhone
