What is often lauded as the best police department in the world, and possibly the most controversial, has made another bold move and opened a local office in Israel. The NYPD Israeli branch will be housed within the Kfar Saba police station in the Sharon District and was opened after officials decided the department needed to maintain a close working relationship with the Israeli police force, Al-Monitor reported Wednesday.
The branch is currently staffed by only one man, Charlie Ben-Naim, a former Israeli citizen and veteran NYPD detective.
Israel isn't the department's only international outpost.
In his bid to fight terrorism, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has overseen expansion into London, Lyons, Hamburg, Tel Aviv, and Toronto, according to New York Magazine.
Back in New York, the department has been facing increasing criticism for what the public sees as a series of missteps.
A New Jersey-based Muslim group sued the department in June over its surveillance of Muslims and Muslim student organizations.
And just last month, nine were shot by police officers near the Empire State Building when law enforcement opened fire on a man who had killed his former coworker just minutes earlier.
Robert Asika, one of the people injured in the melee, announced plans to sue the department, saying police officers should have received better training prior to the incident.

this should be a movie plot
I don't even...
How will this help anything? I might be able to understand if the FBI opened an office in Israel, but why in all Hell does the NYPD need one?
Lol, what the fuck? ...I'd love to see an Israeli "cops" episode with an american trying to arrest a junkie.....

naked gun spiritual sequel
How the hell does a police department, even one as large and influential as the NYPD, have the power and authority to open a branch office in another country? Is this normal practice?
The NYPD has really been overstepping their role recently, you're a domestic city policy agency, not the CIA.
naked gun spiritual sequel
Regardless a setting that should always be a thing.

A city police station opens fucking Embassies in other countries. I'm amazed.
Is that even legal?
The NYPD has been lauded as the most effective police force in the world (though many say that they are corrupt and love to search and beat people for really dumb reasons), so many countries want some instruction from NYPD officials on how to better combat crime.
Israel the 51 state
I bet it was that dude's idea for the surveillance of Muslims in NYC.
(K)Nock Yo' Punkass Down.

They seem to have it under control.
9-11 2000 ''n" fun.
Bizarre as it is, I do understand the logic. New York City has a massive population of jews. NYC even has its own volunteer Jewish EMS and police force. Useless as they are, the jewish population is pretty vested in NYC.

Yes, but that's like saying we have a huge population of Russians in Brooklyn, therefore Russia should be allowed to set up police stations in the borough.

You do know that New York isn't the capital, correct?
You do know that New York isn't the capital, correct?
He was kidding.
The only way the NYPD could be farther out of its Jurisdiction would be if they set up shop on the fucking Moon. Israel? That's pretty fucking far away from Manhattan and the Bronx.

NCIS
How the hell does a police department, even one as large and influential as the NYPD, have the power and authority to open a branch office in another country? Is this normal practice?
They have the power and authority when that said country allows them too.
Wait, wouldn't they *not* be the NYPD then if it's in Isreal
http://nymag.com/nymetro/news/features/n_8286/
So, basically, they decided to play CIA along with the big boys ?
NCIS
NCIS though actually makes sense, being the Navy's police force.
It's also a good show on a somewhat related note.
