Not liking their DLC pricing model.

Especially when you can probably play the game for free anyways with shitty textures (correct me if I'm wrong on this, this is how they did Arma 2).

I've seen free mods add more than this.
Can't believe its this expansion that people here have decided to complain about. Arma expansions always bring a lot to the table and Apex does the same.

The most advanced feature I've seen as part of the paid package is the VTOL function. This is offering us some reskinned units and guns, not many original weapons, a few new vehicles and a pretty map. This isn't bringing us a new, revolutionary game feature given that VTOL aircraft and other systems have existed in A3 for a while and it's just generally something that a big mod could do for free. I've never been fond of Arma 3's DLC pricing models as they always seem a bit expensive for something like 7 snipers or 3 helicopters. This is certainly worthy of a bigger price tag than them, but £25 is like a whole new game and I'd expect a bit more to be honest.
But all credits to the developers, the new aircraft are very nice and I will probably get this if it goes on sale, but £25 is a bit steep IMO.

£25 is a lot of money to some people and I understand that, however, I hate seeing people complain about DLC done right. The expansion includes a lot of stuff. You see "a pretty map", I see a map on a massive scale ripe with new gameplay opportunities. Arma has always been a platform for the community to build on.
I know it's not part of the purchase, but they've done a hell of a lot of work leading up to this expansion for free in terms of building more user friendly systems to work with in the game, and overall quality of life improvements. They even built a brand new editor. Another example is the reworked AI to play nice with Tanoa's foliage heavy terrain. They however, still need to pay their employees for their fantastic work here.
I agree with you when it comes to the smaller packs that Arma 3 has, and I haven't purchased them because I feel that they don't bring a lot to the table. Apex does bring a lot to the table, in my eyes anyway.
Would you say that, as someone who bought A3 on release, is it more worth it to come back to now?

Definitely.
The game is a lot more refined now in a lot of areas, like player movement and controls, UI, and more. The game has been better supporting scenario building with the release of the new 3D editor which is something the game has needed for a long time. The mods scene has sprouted and took off fantastically so there's a crazy amount of content out there now, and the game better supports the installation of mods with its built in launcher. Out of the box content-wise there's a lot more there too.
A lot of the stuff I mentioned there isn't new-new but if you haven't played since A3's release it has changed a bunch. Apex is what Arrowhead was to Arma 2.

More =/= better. Tanoa is better than any custom island I've played.
