Not surprised at all. It's Oakland. Cops there have to deal with shit everyday.
Every Occupy protest in a nutshell
Welcome to [del]Iran[/del] America, where peaceful protest is met with teargas and riot police
ps to anyone that doesn't know: Oakland is pretty shitty, youtube it if you want. It's like San Andreas.
Welcome to [del]Iran[/del] America, where peaceful protest is met with teargas and riot police
um you don't teargas people for peacefully protesting that's usually where people are a) in great numbers and refusing to leave or b) throwing shit at the riot squad
um you don't teargas people for peacefully protesting that's usually where people are a) in great numbers and refusing to leave or b) throwing shit at the riot squad
God forbid people actually exercise their right to organize peacefully and protest the government If only those police were armed with guns, we'd teach them a thing or two about standing up to your government
if you ask people repeatedly to leave and they are not and normal separation tactics aren't working, there's pretty much only a few things left to do. I think this is one of those things where police force A tells protesters B to leave, they say no, police force A tells them repeatedly to leave and tries to separate them by force, ends up having to use tear gas and rubber bullets. Protesters B put video on youtube, edit out everything except the teargas and rubber bullets and say OMG DEY R USIN ICKSESSIVE FOERC SUSPEND PLZ
ouch [editline]26th October 2011[/editline] They're using rubber bullets too, fyi
They were tired of the stench of unwashed people so they figured tear gas would be a better alternative.
Are they even rioting anymore to protest against their government, or are they just rioting for the hell of it? Sure seems like the latter.
Useless escalation..
Are they even rioting anymore to protest against their government, or are they just rioting for the hell of it? Sure seems like the latter.
I'm sure the unemployed and destitute just riot "for the hell of it". I used to live near Oakland, let me tell you, they are in such bad shape. These people have every right to be protesting out there.
Why not just bomb them.
Why not just bomb them.
Should have sent that nuke to the Oakland police instead of dismantling it.
Why not just bomb them.
Because they're human and have a right to protest that's guaranteed in the constitution?
My friend was right there when it happened and this is what she had to say: "dont worry, im safe and locked inside my dorm building haha security wont let us out. but i wanted to go out and eat some good chinese food and take pictures of the scene. my dorm friends said it was fun trying to run away from the tear gas. the tear gas was so close that we had to close our windows. danggg cant wait to go back to orange county."
Because they're human and have a right to protest that's guaranteed in the constitution?
Do I have to explain my post? OK. Well since you're already stripping people of their rights why not do it Gaddafi style, then fucking lecture the whole world how human rights are important.

I don't see what you're getting at.
Yeah people in large numbers who don't move totally deserve to be tear gassed instead of having some type of official come out and talk with them about why they are there in the first place. Totally wouldn't make them more enraged and more likely to commit a crime.
I like how it began as a peaceful protest and the police are making it into a riot all by them selves.
Because that would be awful? I don't see what you're getting at.
You really can't see the irony and the obvious fact that I really hate what the cops are doing, do you?
I'm actually weary of my future life here in the USA. This is quickly escalating into something huge. I just hope it's for the better and my family stays safe
I'm actually weary of my future life here in the USA. This is quickly escalating into something huge. I just hope it's for the better and my family stays safe
I would be with or without the protests.
I'm actually weary of my future life here in the USA. This is quickly escalating into something huge. I just hope it's for the better and my family stays safe
Yeah, I was thinking about coming back for half a year but I don't know. The shit I hear.

That's fucking atrocious, these cops need to be held accountable for things like this.
They shot a marine? That's fucking atrocious, these cops need to be held accountable for things like this.
It's only fuel for the fire, my friend. That marine did his job.
Tear gas is both effective and disorienting.
