A feature that many other MMOs have is being added to a game, and somehow that's newsworthy? Not to rag on FFXIV, but it really must be a slow news day or something. I bet next we hear how "Indie Game #0126438" added an option to "press Start/Space to begin". I know it comes off as harsh/asshole'ish, but I just feel that something common that a lot of other games have being added to this wasn't newsworthy.

It's a news post about what's new in patch. Hair salon is so there you go. It's not "wow never seen before hair salon added to mmo", it's "this feature added to this specific game" kind of news. It's like the news about when gw2 added group find tool. Many mmos have that but gw2 didn't so it was news for that game.
