Can someone explain to me the pros and cons of i5 vs i7? Or link me somewhere that does? I've seen people say i5 because of the price, but haven't seen much other information on it.
i7 has hyperthreading, which may or may not be what you need.
Read this, it will answer everything. http://www.brighthub.com/computing/hardware/articles/48391.aspx
Thanks Ghost!
You're welcome.
in terms of games, i5 has near identical performance as the i7 920 for much less and anything above a 920 is overpriced and not worth it
From what little I know, i7 got hyper threading, meaning 4 cores and 4 virtual cores where as the i5 just has 4 cores. For gaming you will get little extra performance out of an i7 compared to an i5 and for the money i5's are great!

well until Crysis 2 comes out with hyper threading support.
If you're only doing gaming then get a 955 or 965. They are better for gaming.
955/965 was best budget choice until i5, very good chips nonetheless.
