I recently got Ubuntu 10.10 after putting in my new hard drive and I have been fed up, completely fed up with it. First I try getting it to work with my video card, that's fixed, and then the sound stops working completely, that's still a problem, and now when I start it, it displays a wall of text before booting up after 10 long minutes. What is going on?
All I can remember about the wall of text is that is was in an extremely low resolution and it displayed a low-level seeming login screen. It had a bunch of words I don't remember but I do remember it pretty much telling me to type in my username and password, I did. I sat there doing nothing. Then I just went downstairs to get drink and my desktop is on the screen. I don't know why it's doing this and the sound problem is getting extremely annoying. Help.
